I’m no fashion expert, but when it comes to piecing together an outfit that makes me feel beautiful, I have a few essentials to consider. With Valentine’s Day just a few weeks away, I knew I needed to start planning my look sooner than later. And I love shopping, so if I decided I needed something new I could get a little retail therapy in the process.
1. Pretty Dress
If I had to choose only one thing that makes me feel beautiful, it would definitely be a pretty dress. I’m a tank and jeans kind of girl so it’s not often you see me in a dress. But I’m trying to change that and have been wearing dresses much more lately.
Right now floral prints are really popular and that’s the route I took. I chose a simple and lightweight sleeveless dress in a ravishing red and floral print. It couldn’t be more perfect for Valentine’s Day!
If we had warmer weather, I definitely could make this dress work without any legwear. But because the average high has been in the 40’s, I need something to help keep my legs warm. Last month I introduced you to Berkshire and how they’ve completely changed my outlook on tights. So for my Valentine’s Day look, I knew right where to go for my legwear.
Instead of full footed tights, this time I went with the Easy On! Ankle Length Tights which feature:
- Cooling fibers with knit in ventilation.
- Extra stretch for room at the top.
- Comfy control top.
- Total coverage.
- Easy to wear super soft fibers.
- Comfy cuff at the ankle.
The thicker material did wonders for leg warmth and the color looks consistent throughout my whole leg. The fit is also great. One of the things that turned me off of tights years ago was how horribly the fit around my waist cut into me, but that’s not the case with Berkshire. I can wear Berkshire tights comfortably, with no tight waistband showing my pudge through my dress.
Plus, the footless style will allow me to use these year round. I can’t wait until warmer weather arrives and I can wear these tights with a pair of sandals.
Which leads me to my next outfit decision – what shoes to wear. The chilly weather immediately eliminated anything open toed, so I turned to my favorite pair of black booties. Ladies, you can’t go wrong with booties!
When it comes to accessories, the first thing I determine is if I’ll need a belt. This particular dress is flowy and I wanted a bit more curvature to the fit, so I added a thin royal blue belt. Such an easy and oftentime forgotten accessory.
To finish my Valentine’s Day look, I raided my jewelry box. My go-to jewelry piece is a long necklace. I have them in just about every color you can imagine and am constantly growing my collection. For this particular look, I decided to go with a blue beaded necklace to compliment the royal blue belt, and completed the look with a pair of tear drop dangle silver earrings.
