Professional & Affordable At-Home Teeth Whitening + #Giveaway

You may or may not know that I’ve been on a teeth whitening journey for quite some time now. In the past I’ve shared my experiences with oil pulling and activated coconut charcoal powder, without major results. I’ve also tried Crest White Strips, but they just don’t stay in place; and while all of these attempts at whitening my teeth didn’t deter me from trying more, I had lost all hope in at-home products and was ready to go to the dentist for professional help. But before I even got the opportunity to make an appointment, I discovered Smile Brilliant.

Coffee and tea are staples in my everyday life, but they come with a price – stained teeth. None of the at-home products I’ve tried in the past have provided the results I want, but I kept trying them in an attempt to avoid costly professional whitening services. Just before I was ready to make that dentist’s appointment, Smile Brilliant came on my radar.

Spoiler alert – with Smile Brilliant I’ve been able to get the same professional results I would at the dentist, but without the cost or an actual visit to the dentist. The whole whitening process has been very easy, from getting the kit, creating my teeth molds, and the actual whitening. Even with as busy as my schedule is (hello, mom life), I’m getting it done.

Obviously I love that I’m now getting results with the Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening System, but my favorite thing is that I can whiten literally anytime I want. On any given day you may find me whitening my teeth while cleaning, cooking (this helps prevent me from snacking while I cook too, haha), walking my son home from school, while giving the kids a bath or taking a shower myself, and I’ve even taken it so far as to whiten while grocery shopping.

Professional & Affordable At-Home Teeth Whitening | #SmileBrilliant #teethwhitening #giveaway
Can you tell I’m wearing my whitening trays?

The trays are clear and fitted to your teeth, so they’re hardly even noticeable. And you can still talk while the trays are in, so if you have to talk to someone while grocery shopping or yell at your kids for fighting (not that I would know anything about that), you can still do it.

My favorite time to whiten is while I’m sitting at my computer working (I may or may not be whitening right now). When I sit down to get some work done, I zone in and get so focused that before I know it an hour and a half has flown by, and not once do I even think about whitening trays being on my teeth. It’s like a snap of the finger and today’s whitening session is done.

Making Time tip: I suggest not whitening after eating Chinese takeout. I did this one evening and all that sodium content had me extra thirsty. I try not to drink anything while whitening, but that evening I just HAD to drink some water. Just saying.

So, all this talk about this amazing at-home teeth whitening system and how I’ve actually seen real results, but I haven’t shown them to you. Here they are!

Professional & Affordable At-Home Teeth Whitening | #SmileBrilliant #teethwhitening #giveaway

This is after just two weeks of whitening. The first week I was doing every other day for 45 minutes, just to get used to the product (it’s some powerful stuff), and then the second week I did every day for an hour and a half. You can actually safely whiten for as long as three hours each day, and I can only imagine how much better the results would be.

The Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening System retails for $139.99, which is much more affordable than going to the dentist. And with results like this, why go to a dentist and pay more for the same results?

Another added bonus that’s great about Smile Brilliant, is that once you run out of the whitening gel that comes in the kit, you can simply order more whitening gel for the future without having to purchase a completely new kit.

Try It Tuesday: Nature Phil Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder

~This post contains affiliate links, in which I will receive a small commission for your purchase.~

Okay, so it’s been a while since my last Try It Tuesday and I’m still on a mission for whiter teeth. Last time it was Oil Pulling and this time it’s Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder. I had seen various videos floating around social media, and while brushing my teeth with black charcoal didn’t look too appealing, I thought I’d give it a try anyway. Here’s how it has gone!

What?

Nature Phil Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder – All Natural & Organic Teeth Whitening Formula: $14.98 on Amazon

Try It Tuesday: Nature Phil Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder | #TryItTuesday #charcoalpowder #activatedcoconut #teethwhitening #NaturePhil

When?

The results I’m going to show you are after one week of using this product. The directions say to use it twice a day, every day. But I found that I was basically brushing my teeth four times a day and it was causing my gums to become very sore.

You’re probably wondering why I was brushing my teeth four times a day, right? See, you have the option to brush your teeth with your usual toothpaste after brushing with the charcoal, and because I wanted my mouth to feel minty clean, I chose to do that. Hence brushing my teeth what seemed like four times a day.

It was just too much on my gums. Maybe I was brushing to aggressively. I’m not sure, but after three or four days, I reduced my use of the charcoal powder to just once a day.

Try It Tuesday: Nature Phil Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder | #TryItTuesday #charcoalpowder #activatedcoconut #teethwhitening #NaturePhil

How?

Twice a day, brush your teeth using the Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder. As I just mentioned, you have the option to brush your teeth with your regular toothpaste afterward, which I did.

Simply wet your toothbrush, dip it in the charcoal powder, brush, and rinse. That’s it!

Try It Tuesday: Nature Phil Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder | #TryItTuesday #charcoalpowder #activatedcoconut #teethwhitening #NaturePhil

Results

Well, it’s obvious that I couldn’t get a picture in the same light on both the 1st day and 8th day (I wanted to get my full 7th day in before taking a picture). With that being said, it’s hard to tell from the comparison picture if I actually got any results.

Try It Tuesday: Nature Phil Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder | #TryItTuesday #charcoalpowder #activatedcoconut #teethwhitening #NaturePhil

But in person, I think it’s actually working. I certainly don’t see a drastic difference, but the yellowing of my teeth seems to be slowly fading away. I will say, however, I didn’t get the instant results after one use like many others I’ve seen try an activated charcoal powder.

No instant results here!

My boyfriend has also been trying this charcoal powder and he swears by it. He had some yellow staining on his front two teeth and they are almost completely gone (the staining, not his teeth). As usual, I’m sure results vary per individual and use.

Do I Recommend?

Yes, I would recommend Nature Phil Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder. I will continue to use it myself, and because of my subtle results so far and my boyfriends results, I think it’s worth trying. Just don’t expect results after one use.

Tips

  • Brush with toothpaste afterward. With the charcoal powder there’s no minty fresh feeling and the charcoal really doesn’t have a taste (not that I was trying to taste it, but you know what I mean).
    • The charcoal also leaves small black particles lodged in your gums here and there, as well as a general black/gray tint to the gum border along your teeth. My understanding is this is normal no matter which brand of activated charcoal you use. To help rid of that, brushing with toothpaste afterward helps a bit.
  • It’s not necessary, but I used a different toothbrush for brushing with the charcoal powder and brushing with toothpaste. It just made me feel better because some of the charcoal will be left behind on the toothbrush. (My boyfriend used just one toothbrush for both.)
  • The charcoal is going to splatter all over the sink. And wall. And mirror. I recommend trying to brush close to the sink and cleaning up every day after brushing. And maybe even brushing without a shirt on because it may splatter on your shirt too.

Have you ever tried charcoal powder for teeth whitening? I’d love to hear about your experience and results!

Let’s talk about hair changes for a minute. I have always been one to sit on hair changes for weeks, months, and sometimes even years. I can easily come up with a fun new do, but actually taking the plunge and making it happen, that’s another story. Are you the same way?

With short human hair wigs from Black Hairspray, changing your hairstyle is as easy as ever. Black Hairspray offers a large array of fun and beautiful short human hair wigs. Whether you’re looking for something curly, wavy, or straight. Black, auburn, blonde, or a fun color like purple (I’ve had purple hair before). Black Hairspray has got it all.

Wigs Are an Easy Way to Change up Your Hairstyle #BlackHairspray

My favorite thing about wigs is that you don’t have to alter your own hair when you want a change. Wigs allow the freedom to go from one color today to another color tomorrow, or from straight hair today to wavy hair tomorrow, and without all the time consuming and chemical-filled processes of making such changes.

Since the wigs at Black Hairspray are 100% human hair you’re getting nothing but the best in quality, along with a truly natural look, and at amazingly affordable prices. What’s not to love?

Not sure you’re the right customer for Black Hairspray? Guess again! Black Hairspray has clients ranging from professional stylists, to working moms, students and beyond. So why not take a look and choose your next hairstyle?

Build Your Own Bundle at Ecocentric Mom

Ecocentric Mom has done away with the Mom and Pregnancy subscription boxes, and are now offering Build Your Own Bundles instead! Check them out! #EcocentricMom #subscriptionbox #ecofriendly
~Thank you to Ecocentric Mom for providing product for review. As always, opinions are still 100% my own. This post also contains affiliate links, in which I will receive a small commission for your purchase.~

To all of my fellow Ecocentric Mom lovers (or future lovers), there’s a fun new feature on the website that I just know you are going to enjoy – Build Your Own Bundle! Today I’m going to give you the low down on how Build Your Own Bundle works and share with you my first one.

First off, if you’re not familiar with Ecocentric Mom, it is hands down THE best eco-friendly subscription box around. At least that’s how I feel about it. With nothing but all-natural, organic, non-toxic products for mom, baby, and your family/home in general, there’s no better way to try new products. And if you get something in your box that you can’t live without, chances are it can be purchased individually at Ecocentric Mom too.

Let’s get into the new Build Your Own Bundle feature! It never fails, no matter type of subscription box you have, there will always be times you get something in the box that either you can’t use, or just isn’t something you want to use. Ecocentric Mom has eliminated that problem with the Build Your Own Bundle feature.

You choose every item that comes in the box, so when it arrives on your doorstep and you open it up, there are no surprises. On the flip side, I understand surprises are sometimes fun, but what’s not fun is spending money on products you won’t use.

Ecocentric Mom has done away with the Mom and Pregnancy subscription boxes, and are now offering Build Your Own Bundles instead! Check them out! #EcocentricMom #subscriptionbox #ecofriendly

Right now Ecocentric Mom has phased out their monthly Mom and Pregnancy subscription boxes, and replaced them with a Build Your Own Clean Lifestyle Bundle (for mom/$29.99) and a Build Your Own Pregnancy Bundle (for expectant moms/$39.99).

But never fear, the Mom & Baby monthly subscription box is still available. So moms with infants/toddlers up to age 2 years, are still covered.

So, how do the Build Your Own Bundle boxes work? It’s super easy! You go to the desired Build Your Own Bundle box and from drop-down menus choose the products you want. I recently created a Build Your Own Clean Lifestyle Bundle and got to choose full size products from each of these categories:

  • Luxury Skincare/Beauty
  • Clean Beauty/Makeup
  • Health & Wellness
  • Eco-Lifestyle Accessory

Ecocentric Mom has done away with the Mom and Pregnancy subscription boxes, and are now offering Build Your Own Bundles instead! Check them out! #EcocentricMom #subscriptionbox #ecofriendly

In each category you have at least five products to choose from and sometimes more. Every month new items are added, so you don’t have to worry about lack of  variety to choose from. This time around, for my clean lifestyle bundle, I chose:

  • Marine Granules Exfoliator by Previse
  • Lip Locked Stain by Mana Kadar Beauty (I have one of these from a previous Ecocentric Mom box and LOVE it! It’s my everyday go-to color, no matter what kind of mood I’m in, so having a backup doesn’t hurt.)
  • Simply Organic Sunblock by Z Skin Cosmetics
  • Snack Happens Reusable Snack and Everything Bag by Itzy Ritzy

Ecocentric Mom has done away with the Mom and Pregnancy subscription boxes, and are now offering Build Your Own Bundles instead! Check them out! #EcocentricMom #subscriptionbox #ecofriendly

When my box arrived, which was just like three days after placing my order, that’s exactly what was in my box. I even had a little added bonus snack bar by MadeGood. It was delicious, by the way.

Oh, and did I mention the amazing savings you’re getting? The Build Your Own Clean Lifestyle Bundle is $29.99, but you’re getting full size products that can retail upwards of $100. That is some awesome savings!

So what do you think? Doesn’t get much easier, right? No wasting money on unwanted products. And no wondering what’s going to come in this month’s box. It’s a win-win!

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That’s My Son

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

I’m kind of at a breaking point with this topic and need to clear the air. I can’t leave the house without someone mentioning how cute my girls are. My kids are my world and I love them dearly, and I want the world to love them too, for who they are.

I enjoy all of the compliments because my kids ARE cute. But what bothers me is that many people think or automatically assume that my oldest, the one with the long curly hair, is a girl simply because of the long hair.

He is not a girl. Yes, he has long, beautiful, curly hair. But he is a boy. I do not have two daughters. I have a son and a daughter.

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

I try not to let this bother me and I know I’ll still have to deal with it for years to come, but when I say this happens every time we leave the house, I’m not exaggerating. I could literally record myself saying, “He’s not a girl. This is my son,” and have it ready to play at any moment.

And it’s not everyone who compliments him, that assumes he’s a girl. Some people can see he’s a boy and ask questions like if we’ve ever cut his hair. Or they’ll ask how old he is, wondering how long his hair’s been growing. And sometimes I’ll even get asked about tips for managing it because other people are dealing with the same type and texture of hair with their own children, and it is not easy to manage.

But for those of you who think my son is actually my daughter, please just take a moment before you comment. If you take a closer look you’ll see that he is dressed like a boy and he looks like a boy. If you’re not sure, you can still compliment without being gender specific. Instead of using “daughter” or “her,” use “child.”

“I love your child’s hair,” is the perfect compliment. And when I respond, I’ll likely say “his” or “he,” and that’s your clue that he is in fact a boy.

If you DON’T take that moment before commenting, don’t get upset when I correct you, because I WILL correct you. No, I’m not interested in your unwanted advice. No, I’m not going to cut his hair so he will look like a boy. And if that’s your response, I promise, you will get more than you bargained for. He already looks like a boy. A boy with long, beautiful, curly hair. The cutest boy you’ll ever see (my opinion is definitely biased, but you get my point).

The child with the long curly hair, that’s my son.

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

So now that I’ve gotten that off my chest and if you’re now wondering –

When my son was smaller and his hair started getting out of control, I said it was time to cut it. But Daddy had other plans, so here we are five and a half years later and our son has never had his hair cut (unless you count the time he had a horrible tangle that I just couldn’t brush out so I snipped it).

My son’s hair has become a part of him. I have no idea what he would look like without it, but I imagine I wouldn’t even recognize him. The curls, the length, the way it frames his face, the way it looks in a pony tail or a bun, the wild frizz and tangles we deal with daily, it’s part of who he is. And I’m pretty sure if we were to cut it, he wouldn’t know how to react either.

Maybe he’ll grow up and keep his long locks. Maybe he’ll decide enough is enough, and cut it. Maybe he’ll even donate it. Whatever he chooses, it’s one thing we’re giving him the freedom of choosing on his own.

Try It Tuesday: Oil Pulling

Try It Tuesday: Oil Pulling | I tried oil pulling for 4 weeks and I'm sharing my results with you. Head over to the blog to see how it went! #tryitttuesday #oilpulling #coconutoil

~This post contains affiliate links, in which I will receive a small commission for your purchase.~

It’s a new edition of Try It Tuesday and this week I tried oil pulling. Well, the past four weeks I’ve been trying oil pulling. Have you ever heard of it? Ever tried it? Want to try it? Keep reading to see what oil pulling is all about and what kind of results I got!

What is oil pulling?

Oil pulling is the act of swishing around oil in your mouth to improve dental health. From the research I’ve done, there isn’t any solid evidence as to the effectiveness of oil pulling, but many sources indicate oil pulling has the following effects, among others:

  • Whiter teeth
  • Healthier gums
  • Less dental sensitivity
  • Fresher breath
  • Cures tooth decay
  • Reduces plaque
  • Improves skin
  • Helps with headaches

It’s believed that oil pulling literally pulls the toxins from your mouth, teeth and body, creating a healthier mouth and healthier you. Okay, so how true is all of this? I have no idea, but I thought I’d give it a go.

Process

The process of oil pulling is really simple. You swish a tablespoon of oil around in your mouth for 10-20 minutes, spit it out, rinse with water (or salt water), and brush your teeth as usual.

Easy right?

Try It Tuesday: Oil Pulling | I tried oil pulling for 4 weeks and I'm sharing my results with you. Head over to the blog to see how it went! #tryitttuesday #oilpulling #coconutoil

I’ve read you can use just about any type of oil, and have seen instances of vegetable oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil and sesame oil being used. I’m not sure if it really matters which oil you use, but I chose to go with coconut oil just in case I happen to swallow a little.

You’re not supposed to swallow any of it because you’d be swallowing the toxins you’re trying to get rid of, but if I happened to swallow some by accident I didn’t want it to be something like vegetable or olive oil. Yuck! I’m gagging just thinking about swallowing those.

I also chose coconut oil because of it’s known healing properties. I have been having really bad tooth sensitivity the past few months and would try anything to get rid of it. I would have gone to the dentist by now to get checked for cavities, but I don’t have dental insurance, so a home remedy it is.

Try It Tuesday: Oil Pulling | I tried oil pulling for 4 weeks and I'm sharing my results with you. Head over to the blog to see how it went! #tryitttuesday #oilpulling #coconutoil

The brand I used was Kala Coconut Oil from Kala Oils. I had this on hand from an Ecocentric Mom box that I had previously gotten and hadn’t used it yet, so I figured why not. It was a way for me to put it to good use!

Results

The exact process I followed was a tablespoon of coconut oil once a day, for 10 minutes, for four weeks (minus a few days because life happens).

Right away I could tell a difference in how my mouth felt. Throughout the day, and even after eating, my teeth and mouth just felt cleaner and fresher than usual. And you know how sometimes you might wake up with a nasty taste in your mouth. That was completely gone.

As for my tooth sensitivity, I think oil pulling has helped a little, but the sensitivity hasn’t completely subsided. I’m thinking there’s a good chance I already have enough damage to the sensitive area, that nothing can help but maybe a cavity filling. I’m also starting to wonder if maybe one of my fillings has fallen out. So, looks like I’ll be paying for a dentist’s visit sometime soon after all.

As far as whitening my teeth, there’s been some subtle lightening. It’s hard to get great photos of my teeth with the same type of lighting to ensure I’m showing actual results, but I did the best I could. So take a look at day 1 and day 28.

Try It Tuesday: Oil Pulling | I tried oil pulling for 4 weeks and I'm sharing my results with you. Head over to the blog to see how it went! #tryitttuesday #oilpulling #coconutoil

I can’t really say how many shades lighter my teeth are, but I can personally see a difference when I look in the mirror. Nothing drastic, but a difference nonetheless, so I’ll take it.

So is it worth the effort? I say yes if you’re looking for better general dental health. I like how my mouth and teeth feel compared to before and that’s good enough for me. But I don’t think it’s necessary to practice oil pulling every day. I’ll continue to practice it, but maybe just twice a week or so. For tooth sensitivity relief I’ll have to look elsewhere, and for whitening I think oil pulling longer term will offer better results, but I have plans to try some other things too.

Tips & Suggestions

If you’re going to try oil pulling, I’ve come up with a few do’s and don’ts. I’m sure if you go at it alone, you’ll come to the same conclusions.

Start small – If you feel like a tablespoon is too much, start with a teaspoon and test it out. You don’t have to jump right in. You also don’t have to start at 10 or 20 minutes, but try 5 minutes instead.

Do not use hardened coconut oil – If using coconut oil, you don’t want to start with it’s hardened form. Do something to melt it to liquid before putting it in your mouth. The oil would eventually melt in your mouth from the warmth, but it takes longer than you’d probably like and when measuring a tablespoon of hardened coconut oil, once it melts you’ll end up with more in your mouth than you bargained for.

Do not swish aggressively – There’s no need to swish the oil aggressively like mouthwash. It will tire you out. Just occasionally swish it through your teeth.

Do not swallow the oil – It’s really hard to hold and swish around a tablespoon of oil in your mouth for 10-20 minutes without swallowing. The tablespoon doubles in size as time passes, supposedly from the toxins it’s pulling and also the saliva that collects in your mouth. There were times I just had to swallow and suggest pushing all of the oil to the front of your teeth so you can swallow lightly without taking in too much of the oil and toxins.

Practice oil pulling while occupied – Let’s be real. When you are holding something in your mouth for 10 minutes, those can be the longest 10 minutes of your life. I suggest practicing oil pulling when you are occupied with something. My favorite time to do it is in the shower. From the time I jumped in, bathed and got out and dressed, it was right at or just past 10 minutes. You could also do it while folding laundry, loading the dishwasher, anything that keeps your mind occupied on something else.

Spit the oil in the trash – Whatever you do, always spit the oil out in the trash. Don’t spit it down the sink, especially if you’re using coconut oil because it will harden as soon as it cools off. I’m sure the last thing you want is a clogged drain to deal with.

After seeing photos and a short video of women using what seems like a miracle foot mask, I knew I just had to try it out. I haven’t had a pedicure in a really long time and with sandal weather on it’s way, my feet were in need of some love.

The photos and video that I saw depicted the layer of dead skin literally peeling off the bottom of the foot in large sheets. I thought to myself there’s no way this could be, so I took thing into my own hands to find out for sure.

After browsing foot masks on Amazon, I decided to get the three pair pack of Purederm Shiny & Soft Foot Peeling Masks. The same day they arrived, was the same day I tried them out. I was so excited and just couldn’t wait to see if they’d really work!

Day 1 – Application

Application of the foot masks was really easy. You’ll see everything in the video below, but the masks are just a foot shaped bag that has a liquid-type substance inside. You place your foot in the mask and wear them for 60-90 minutes.

I was a little concerned the foot masks would be kind of loose, but they actually fit nice and tight. For the 90 minutes I wore them I was sitting for the most part, but you’re still able to walk around if you need to. The masks aren’t uncomfortable to wear, but just a squishy feeling if you walk around.

After about 30 minutes I started to feel a tingly, almost minty-like feeling and when the 90 minutes was over, I took the masks off and rinsed my feet. I noticed that the nail polish on my little toes and big toes had been affected by the foot mask.

Those particular toes were in positions that they directly rubbed against the sides of the foot mask, so I think that’s why they were the only ones affected. The three middle toenails on each foot were perfectly fine.

Also, that minty-like coolness continued probably until I went to bed that night (I first applied the masks at about 8 pm).

Day 3

Day 3 rolled around and I was totally surprised. The masks actually work! The night of day 3, I took my socks off and looked at my feet and there were spots of loose skin just waiting to be peeled away. I peeled what I could (watch the video) and waited to see what else would happen over the next few days.

This is everything I peeled off on Day 3!

Day 4

Day 4 came and, again, there was some additional peeling. Even the bottoms of my toes started to peel a little bit.

Day 7

In the video you’ll see I did a 7 day update just so you could see the progress that had been made before actually getting to day 10. The majority of the bottom of my feet had peeled and there were visible rigid lines all the way around the sole of my foot, where you could see at what point it peeled up to. The line stopped right at the top of the sole, all the way around. I figured that was as far as the peeling would go and that the top and sides of the foot wouldn’t do anything, but I later found out I was wrong.

At this point I also had peeling on the front and tops of my toes, around my toenail. I mean the peeling literally went all the around my toenails and all the way up to the crease of my toenails. There was even peeling in between my toes.

The only places that had yet to peel on the bottom were parts of the rougher, callused spots and also the inner sole.

Day 8

On day 8, it was warmer out so I decided to pull out my sandals. My feet needed some moisturizing, but I wanted so bad to wear them so I did. They were thong sandals that went between the toes and up across the top of my foot.

When I got home and took my sandals off, I noticed that there was slight peeling across the tops of my feet. It was nothing like the large pieces that came off the bottom of my feet, but was peeling nonetheless.

Day 10

Finally day 10 arrived and I was amazed at how well these foot masks had worked. Those rough spots that hadn’t yet peeled a few days ago, had peeled at this point. My heel looked amazing and wasn’t at all dry and cracked in the creases. The rougher, callused spots still felt a little rough, but they did peel and were visibly better. Just what I need for sandal wearing!

This also means that the foot masks delivered exactly what they said they would. By day 10 the calluses are supposed to be all gone and as of day 10, all of mine had peeled. The tops of my toes had also started peeling down to the base of the toes and the inner sole that hadn’t peeled yet was very dry and peeled off in small strips.

Day 12

As a little added bonus, after taking a shower the night of day 12 I noticed the tops and sides of my feet were peeling. Again, not in large pieces like the bottoms of my feet did, but with some rough rubbing, the skin kind of rolled off.

This picture doesn’t even do justice, but you can see that the dry, flaky skin from the “before” picture is now gone. You definitely want to watch the video!

Ready to get your feet sandal ready?

Head over to Amazon and get your order in now! When I ordered, the pack of three was just $10.99 and today the pack appears to be $11.99, so know that prices on Amazon change all the time. There are a few different scents that Purederm offers, too. I assume since they’re the same brand, and have the same purpose, they’ll all work the same.

Order Your Favorite Scent: Lemon Apple | Apricot

Also, order when you seem them! They are currently out of stock and every single time I go back to check, it’s the same thing. It just so happens that when I ordered back in February they were out of stock at that time too, but lucky would be restocked in just a few days. As soon as that date came, I believe it was the next day that my order was shipped.

Have you always wanted to try the hottest and most glam makeup products and trends, but don’t know where to start? This is exactly how I feel about makeup and beauty in general.

I haven’t looked through the latest fashion magazines, but that doesn’t matter because I’m not a makeup guru and have no idea how to get the glam looks anyways. Besides, I haven’t a clue as to what shades will work for me, but that doesn’t matter either because I have no time to get to the store to even buy any beauty products.

So what is a girl like me to do? Get myself a Beauty Box 5 subscription, that’s what!

I just got my first box delivered last month and was amazed at everything that was included. February’s theme was “The Kiss Kit” and the box included nothing but lip products. Pucker up baby, my lip game is about to be on point!

  • Jean Pierre Cosmetics Pink Moisturizing Lip Mask
  • Tint Beauty Unicorn Lippie
  • Tint Beauty Unicorn Liner
  • So Susan Colour Hybrid
  • Style Essentials Lip Glow

Every month, with a Beauty Box 5 subscription you’ll receive 5 beauty must-haves delivered to your door. Some products are full-size and others are samples. In “The Kiss Kit,” 4 products were full-size! The only one that was a “sample” was the Pink Moisturizing Lip Mask. It’s sold as a pack of 5 and the box contained just 1.

If you haven’t had a good laugh today, here it is! This is the Jean Pierre Cosmetics Pink Moisturizing Lip Mask. Looks funny, but is a pretty neat little item.

Each month the products you get are worth a combined $35+. The total value of “The Kiss Kit?” – $38.50. How much is the subscription? – As low as $9/mth (depending on which plan you choose)!

  • Pay monthly – $12/mth
  • Pay quarterly (every 3 months) – $10/mth (This is my favorite option!)
  • Pay annually – $9/mth

I’ve already told you I’m no makeup guru and to be honest, I’m pretty much making things up as I go. But that’s okay! When I find something that works, I stick with it until I master something else. And I’ve realized that I don’t have to get all fancied up to wear makeup. Even the simplest of days deserve a little mascara and lip color!

What I like about Beauty Box 5 is that I get new products or shades that I would never pick up in the store (when I do actually get there) and sometimes find that I love them. That’s what happened last month with “The Kiss Kit.”

It came with a Tint Unicorn Liner and Lippie in the Fairytale shade. I pulled them out of their little black boxes and immediately thought there was no way this color would look good on me. It looked Barbie pink at first glance and I tend to wear darker colors. But I tried them anyways. Low and behold, I really like the color! Never in my life would I have chosen this pink shade while shopping myself, but now that I’ve tried it, I find it to be a perfect color for spring and summer, and one that I can pull off.

11 Hair Care Tips for Color Treated Hair

Dying your hair could be something you've been doing for years, or could be a big decision, as it was for me. When I made the decision to go big or go home, I knew it would be a learning experience as far caring for color treated hair. These are 11 tips I've learned over the past year about caring for and maintaining my color treated hair. #haircolor #haircare #colortreatedhair

About a year ago I finally took the plunge and did something to my hair that I’d been wanting to do for years. I dyed it purple! I had seen photos of women who had this amazingly beautiful and vibrant purple hair and instantly fell in love. I just had to do it!

For career purposes, I had never been able to do fun and vibrant things with my hair so the dream was put on the back burner. But after becoming a stay at home mom a few years ago, it quickly moved to the top of my to-do list. To be frank, it was going to be a BIG change and I worried how the bleach and dye would affect my hair. Besides, I had absolutely no idea how to care for color treated hair.

How long would the color last?

Would I be spending hundreds of dollars every month just trying to maintain its vibrancy?

Would a color like this bleed all over my clothes and everything else it touched?

Do I need to use special hair care products?

Dying your hair could be something you've been doing for years, or could be a big decision, as it was for me. When I made the decision to go big or go home, I knew it would be a learning experience as far caring for color treated hair. These are 11 tips I've learned over the past year about caring for and maintaining my color treated hair. #haircolor #haircare #colortreatedhair

There were so many unknowns, but I gathered up enough courage to go through with it. You can read all about my day at the salon going from a natural red head to a sensational purple, here. But today I want to offer some tips I’ve learned over the past year, as to how to care for color treated hair.

1. Wait as long as possible to wash after dying.

The longer you wait to wash your hair after the initial dye, the better. This allows time for the color to really sink in, if you will. I was able to go five days after the initial dye before washing and found that, along with following these other tips, helped the color last longer.

2. Wash no more than twice a week.

The more often you wash your hair, the sooner the color treatment will disappear. I try not to wash mine more often than every four days.

3. Dry shampoo is your best friend.

Wondering how you’ll go so long between washes? If it isn’t already, dry shampoo will become your best friend. Dry shampoo assists in removing natural oils from your hair, eliminating that greasy, dirty look in between washes. At the same time it protects the color treatment because you’re not actually washing your hair. My favorite dry shampoo is Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo.

4. Don’t wet your hair until you’re ready to wash it.

When it’s time to wash your hair, do everything else in your shower routine before wetting/washing your hair. If your hair is wet, it’s going to be more prone to bleeding and will result in more color coming out. This is especially the case the first couple of weeks after the initial dye.

5. Wash your hair in cold water.

It’s really important to wash your hair in cold water – as cold as you can stand it. Warm water opens the hair follicles/pores and releases the color, so washing in cold water helps maintain the color longer.

6. Use shampoo and conditioner meant for dyed hair.

For color treated hair, it’s better to use a shampoo and conditioner that will protect the color. It doesn’t have to be an expensive brand and you can usually find a variety available at any store that sells hair care products. I like to use Biotera Color Care shampoo and conditioner.

7. Don’t rough dry with a towel.

In general it’s not good to be rough with your hair, so rather than roughly drying it with a towel, try wrapping it in an old t-shirt or loosely twist into a hair towel. This will also help prevent the inevitable color transfer to your favorite towels.

8. Avoid blow drying your hair.

Hair dye drastically dries out your hair, so adding heat just causes more damage. Blow dryer heat also has the same effect as washing with warm water, so to keep long-lasting color let your hair air dry.

9. Wrap your hair in a scarf to prevent dye transfer to your bedding.

It’s inevitable that at least the first couple of weeks (and maybe more) you’re going to experience color transfer. It’s going to get on your shirts, your bedding and any type of cloth/material your hair touches. I even had purple color along the top of my cream colored recliner.

Sometimes it will wash out and sometimes it may take a few washes or cleanings to get the color out of everything. To help prevent color transfer to your bedding, wrap it in a light scarf while you sleep. After a few weeks the color will stop transferring and you won’t need to wrap it anymore. I think I probably wrapped my hair for 3 weeks or so.

10. Pale colors fade quicker.

Because pale colors fade quicker, they’ll take much more maintenance in terms of keeping the color, so be prepared to hit the salon much more often. My bright colors fade really well into pale colors and I can go about 2 months between salon visits.

11. Stay away from the pool!

Chlorine will disturb the freshly dyed color and can actually alter it. This was probably the hardest part for me when we lived in FL. My kids love the pool, as do I, so this was a struggle for a few weeks after a salon appointment. If you must go swimming, wearing a swim cap will help. I just wasn’t willing to take the risk.

If you could dye your hair any color, what would it be?
