Frugal Fashion Find: Affordable & Stylish Sunglasses

Frugal Fashion Find: Affordable & Stylish Sunglasses | #SunglassWarehouse #frugalfind #fashion #sunglasses
~Thank you to Sunglass Warehouse for providing product for review. As always, opinions are still 100% my own.~

Just in time for our end of summer vacation last week, I discovered an awesome frugal fashion find – Sunglass Warehouse. You may already know that I love sunglasses and always have a pair (or two) in my purse, plus a handful lying around the house. Well, the obsession has just gotten stronger.

Thanks to Sunglass Warehouse, I now have a pair for just about every mood. And since sunglasses never go out of style and are always in season (because the sun isn’t going anywhere), they’re good to have around.

When I’ve been in the car for 5 hours, all I want are some oversized sunglasses to hide how tired my eyes are.

The options at Sunglass Warehouse are affordable too. For $10+ you can get a stylish pair of sunglasses, and so long as you care for them properly, they’ll last for as long as you need them.

You would think that for just $10-$15, you get what you pay for, but this frugal find will surprise you. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much when I ordered my sunglasses. I ordered about six pairs by the way, two of which were for my boyfriend.

Our vacation driver (my boyfriend) was enjoying the music and keeping his eyes on the road with his new shades.

When they arrived, we found that some of them have spring hinges on the sides so that they fit well. I find this is a great feature when you have kids too, because if they get a hold of the sunglasses, chances are they’ll bend the sides outward. With the spring hinges that actually allow the sunglasses to do this, it provides a less likely chance your child will break them.

And not just that, but I also found that I could see objects and colors more clearly and vividly with some of the sunglasses on. Without wearing them, the sunlight just dulled the colors of cars and trees, but wearing the sunglasses with polarized lenses put things into better perspective.

New aviators for the amusement park!

I don’t wear prescription glasses, so it’s not a matter of needing clarity, but for those sunglasses that featured the polarized lenses, it was a nice bonus for my frugal find. Now I feel like I’ve been deprived of vivid vision my whole life. Polarized lenses really do offer a completely different view.

Sometimes it feels good to roll the windows down and enjoy the wind in your hair.

With literally hundreds of sunglasses to choose from, and various shapes and color combos offered, there’s no doubt in my mind you’ll find more than one pair you love and at a price you’ll love even more!  I already told you I got six pairs and there are still more I want! Shipping is also free with U.S. orders of $25+.

Which pair of sunglasses do you like the best?

Photo a Day: Week 13 | #photoaday #photoadayforayear

Okay, so I’m a day late this week, but I have good reason. Yesterday we were traveling home from a week vacation and I was driving. So yeah, I couldn’t really get my Photo a Day for this week up while doing that. We visited family in NY, and had a great time lounging around and just enjoying ourselves, as you’ll see in this week’s photos.

Help a Child Prepare for Back to School with a Single Click

Help a Child Prepare for Back to School with a Single Click | #backtoschool #BTS #KidsinNeedFoundation #Target #Yoobi #schoolsupplies

One thing I always see across social media during Back to School season, is how ridiculous school supply lists are and how expensive it all can be. I wish those parents would look at this cost as an investment in their child’s future. Is it really that bad of an expense to help your child succeed in life?

No! No, it is not.

On the flip side, how about the families who just literally can’t afford to buy school supplies? As a parent, I feel for those children and know that many teachers foot the bill out of their own pockets, because they want those children to have the same opportunity to succeed as everyone else in their classrooms.

Well, guess what? With a simple like and/or share of this Facebook video, you can make a difference in those children’s lives too. For every like or share of the video, Target will provide a backpack filled with school supplies to a child who needs it.

It’s a small gesture on your part and takes just a second to do, but will provide a major impact on the future of our children’s generation.

And I also want to give a big shout out to Yoobi for helping fill these backpacks and to the Kids in Need Foundation for making sure the supplies reach the children who need them. This initiative would not be possible without them.

Need to register your child to participate in this program? Visit the Kids in Need Foundation for more info!

Entertainment That Educates + #NCircleEntertainment Giveaway

Entertainment That Educates + Giveaway | #NCircleEntertainment #education #learning #giveaway #entertowin
~Thank you to NCircle Entertainment for providing DVDs for review. As always, opinions are still 100% my own.~

Children’s minds take in more than we can ever imagine. They watch everything we do. They copy how their friends act, as their energy feeds off of each other. They learn through play, fun, and adventure. The world and every little thing in it is educating our children in some way or another, and the shows and movies they watch are no different.

As school nears, and for many has already started, formal learning and education is soon to be in full swing. Whether you have kids in lower elementary school, are homeschooling, or even have toddlers and pre-K aged kids at home, the NCircle Entertainment August DVD releases will help keep the fun and learning going at home too.

Check out the new fun, adventurous, and educational releases I’ve added to my own kids’ collection this month.

What to expect!

All of these entertainment options get those little gears moving, get your kids asking questions, learning new things, and taking adventures in lands they’ve never experienced before.

Your children will learn things like why the moon only comes out at night, how a whale stays under water for so long, what makes a car go fast, and many more of the world’s mysteries (at least the one’s that children haven’t figured out yet).

They’ll also learn some of life’s greatest lessons, like when and how to ask for help, how to say you’re sorry, why it’s good to tell the truth, and the true meaning and happiness of friendship.

My kids absolutely love Molang and The Little Prince, so I knew these would be instant hits (they watched the entire season of Molang as soon as they got their new goodies). Lily’s Driftwood Bay and The Day Henry Met __ ? are both new to us, but the kids are loving them so far.

Lily likes to take adventures on Driftwood Bay, an imaginary island. Each day Lily’s imagination is sparked by something that washes up from the sea, and she’s taken away to Driftwood Bay, where she and her friends have fun exploring and learning new things.

Entertainment That Educates + Giveaway | #NCircleEntertainment #education #learning #giveaway #entertowin

Then there’s Henry, a knowledge seeking 4 year old, who loves to ask questions of anything and everything. Do you ever find yourself talking to objects, like asking the car why it keeps running out of gas? No? Maybe that’s just me. Talking to objects is exactly the way Henry learns how and why things work the way they do.

When school is over for the day, or my daughter wants something fun to watch while her brother’s at school, all I have to do is pull out one these fun and educational DVDs for a little entertainment. Want the same for your kids? Enter to win all four NCircle Entertainment August releases (plus a cute book) using the giveaway form below.

Which new release would your kids like?

From Grief to Joy: Giving Hope to Infertile Couples

From Grief to Joy: Giving Hope to Infertile Couples | #infertility #IVF #eggdonor

Today I have a guest post on the topic of infertility, and the option of egg donors and IVF. This is not something I personally know anything about, as I have not had to deal with infertility myself, but I’m happy that my guest poster has graciously agreed to share some information about the options of egg donors and IVF treatment, for those readers who are going through infertility themselves. While I have no experience with it, I do have friends who struggle with infertility, so I’m happy to have this topic covered today.

Regardless of the life plans we make, the unexpected is bound to happen. Finding out your eggs aren’t viable for conception – or you’re unable to carry a pregnancy to term – is about as unexpected as it gets. Women struggling to get pregnant never imagine they’ll hear from their doctor that they are infertile. However, a couple’s dream of having a child and family reaches far beyond their diagnosis. This is why the egg donation process gives hope to couples struggling with infertility.

Emotional Turmoil

The emotions following such monumental news can be very intense. Negative emotions such as grief, anger, a sense of inadequacy, hopelessness, and depression are normal responses in such a stressful situation. Many couples seek professional counseling to deal with the resulting shock and emotional fallout.

Choosing Donor Eggs – a New Hope

For couples coping with infertility, choosing IVF using donor eggs can be a solution leading towards parenthood and a happy family. Nevertheless, the thought of a future child not being genetically connected to the mother can be quite challenging to deal with. So, coming to terms with the decision to use this method is very important for the mother’s overall well-being. In some cases, feelings of resentment towards the partner might develop as he would be the biological father to the child – thus having a ‘closer’ or ‘more real’ bond. Biological connection doesn’t equate to a stronger bond, however!

But this, too, is a normal part of the grieving process, and doesn’t make you a bad person in any way. Some couples even decide to use donor sperm as well. Honest and open communication between the partners is imperative for making a healthy compromise.

Choosing the Right Donor

Finding the right donor is perhaps the hardest and lengthiest step of the process for many couples. The criteria which are important to each of the partners may differ significantly. Therefore, it could take up to a few months for the couple to reach a mutually acceptable decision. Some women may also choose a close relative to be the donor, so they feel genetically closer to the future child.

Fresh or Frozen Donor Egg Cycle

Though largely similar, there are some key differences, including pros and cons, between these two methods.

Fresh donor egg cycles require the donor to be localized in your area and available at your convenience. This considerably limits the pool of available donors. Next, the donor’s medications, costs of travel, as well as other relevant costs make this method much more expensive than a frozen donor egg cycle. However, it offers slightly better chances of a successful pregnancy.

On the other hand, frozen donor egg cycle offers a substantially larger donor pool – at the fertility clinic, you are able to choose a donor from a national egg donor registry. Frozen donor eggs are more available and easier to obtain, plus all costs regarding the donor are already factored into the price of the cycle. This makes this method significantly cheaper than fresh.

Legal and Ethical Concerns

It is important to have all legalities on paper before implantation. Thankfully, if using a donor egg bank, they take care of this for you. Otherwise, you need a lawyer to draft a contract regarding the donor’s rights and involvement in the child’s life.

Quick Overview of the Implantation Process

After the initial interview, you will undertake several tests to determine if your uterus can carry a pregnancy to term. If all is well, you may begin the journey of donor egg IVF. Depending on the donor egg cycle you’ve chosen, the process of implantation differs.

In a fresh donor egg cycle, you and your donor are brought to the clinic and undergo a cycle synchronization treatment before the donor’s eggs are extracted, fertilized, and implanted into your uterus.

In a frozen donor egg cycle, the cryopreserved eggs are transported to your clinic where they are thawed and fertilized with the sperm of your partner or donor. After a period of 3 – 4 days, the most viable embryos are implanted inside your uterus.

The Big Moment and Happily Ever-After

After two weeks, you’ll be called back to the fertility clinic to take your HCG pregnancy test. This period of ‘calm before the storm’ can be accompanied by mixed feelings of anxiety, hopefulness, eagerness, or even a sense of impending doom if prior IVF treatments weren’t successful. Proper counseling and emotional support from your partner is vital to prepare yourself for the final outcome, whatever it may be. Nonetheless, when all is well and you are preparing bottles or cleaning up after your bundle of joy, you won’t be spending time thinking about genetics.

From Grief to Joy: Giving Hope to Infertile Couples | #infertility #IVF #eggdonor

The journey to parenthood can be long, hard, and costly – both emotionally and financially – but it pales in comparison to the immeasurable happiness and fulfillment of having a child. The latest advancements in medicine offer hope to many couples who might otherwise give up on their lifelong dream of becoming parents. There’s always hope!

*This is a guest post. Infertility, egg donors, and IVF treatment are not something I have personal experience with. Should you have serious questions about any of these, please consult with your physician. Please see this blog’s full policies and disclosure here.

Easy Cold Brew Coffee with Melitta

Easy Cold Brew Coffee with Melitta | #Melitta #coldbrew #coffee #pourover
~Thank you to Melitta for providing product for review. As always, opinions are still 100% my own.~

If you’re like me, you can’t wait for fall weather to arrive. And not just because that means pumpkin spice everything, but because we will be able to warm up with hot coffee. Until then, we have to deal with the hot summer weather and if we want our coffee fix, an ice cold coffee will do the trick.

I’ve tried cold brew coffees for Keurig and when it comes down to it, it’s just piping hot coffee brewed over ice cubes, that melts said ice cubes, makes my coffee watery, and I end up with a luke warm cup of joe. It just doesn’t work for me.

I’ve also tried brewing extra coffee in a regular coffee pot and putting it in the fridge to cool for the next day. But by the next day the coffee has completely lost its oomph. Yea, that doesn’t work for me either.

Easy Cold Brew Coffee with Melitta | #Melitta #coldbrew #coffee #pourover

So how do I get the perfect cup of cold brew coffee? One word – Melitta. Did you know that Melitta has a Pour-Over Cone that fits a single coffee mug, so you can get real fresh brewed coffee day in and day out? And guess what, it doesn’t just work for fresh hot coffee (although I can’t wait to try that when the weather cools down), but it works wonders for cold brewed coffee too.

Artisan Cold Brew with Melitta

  1. In a pitcher, add 2/3 cup of ground Melitta Coffee to 16 oz. of cold water. Mix well.
  2. Cover pitcher and chill for 4+ hours. Remove from refrigerator and stir vigorously.
  3. Place a Melitta Cone Filter in a Melitta Pour-Over Cone. Set cone atop a carafe or jar. Pour the stirred coffee/water mix into the filter. Wait for all liquid coffee to filter through and drip in carafe below. Repeat pour-over process until all mix is filtered. You now have Melitta Cold Brew Concentrate.
  4. Keep Cold Brew Concentrate covered and chilled for up to a week. Enjoy!

This is THE best way to enjoy a cup of cold brew coffee at home. I have had a cup almost every day since getting my new Melitta Pour-Over Coffee Brew Cone & Travel Mug, and used this process as inspiration. I did make a simple tweak though, and now I get the perfect iced coffee to-go anytime I want.

Easy Cold Brew Coffee with Melitta | #Melitta #coldbrew #coffee #pourover

Easy Cold Brew Coffee with Melitta | #Melitta #coldbrew #coffee #pourover

The simple change I made was rather than brewing 16 oz. at a time, which would logically yield 2 cups of coffee, I put 12 oz. of cold water into 2-3 mason jars at a time. The 12 oz. jars are perfect for filling up my travel mug.

Then I added 1/3 cup of Melitta ground coffee to each jar and let the jars sit in the fridge until I’m ready for a cup. Whether the water/coffee mixture sits overnight or maybe for a day or two, each cup is fresh and full of rich flavor.

Easy Cold Brew Coffee with Melitta | #Melitta #coldbrew #coffee #pourover

When I’m ready for a cup, I place a cone filter in the Pour-Over Cone, and filter my cold brewed coffee right into my mug. I add a little sugar before filtering the coffee and add my favorite creamer afterwards. Place a few ice cubes in and I’m ready to take on the day!

I have my coffee in hand, kids in tow, and the summer heat is not putting a damper on my day. This Melitta pour-over brewing process is absolutely the best and strongest cold brew coffee I’ve ever made at home!

Pretty in Polka Dots

Pretty in Polka Dots | #SocietyPlus #polkadots #skirt #plussizefashion #fashion #womensfashion

~Thank you to Society+ for providing a skirt for review. This post contains affiliate links, in which I will receive a small commission for your purchase. As always, opinions are still 100% my own.~

As a young adult, I wasn’t much into wearing skirts and dresses. And to be honest, even now I’m still a jeans and tank top kind of girl, but I do have an array of dresses and skirts in my wardrobe that I like to pull out from time to time.

My skirt and dress collection is growing much more rapidly now than anything else in my closet. I feel feminine and pretty when wearing a skirt or dress, and what woman doesn’t want to feel those things?

Pretty in Polka Dots | #SocietyPlus #polkadots #skirt #plussizefashion #fashion #womensfashion

Yesterday was no different as I pranced around in my new Makena Polka Dot Chiffon Skirt from Society+. I have to admit after I put my outfit together, I felt a bit like a 1950’s housewife, with the flowy skirt placed higher on my waist and the bulky yellow necklace, but I had a “pretty in polka dots” vibe going on and nothing was going to ruin it.

My son had soccer practice yesterday and typically I wear my usual yoga pants and tank top of some sort, or in other words, my mom-wear. I needed a change, even if just for the day, and as we walked from the car to the pier where his practice takes place, I noticed I was getting many more stares than I ever noticed before. I realized I wasn’t blending in anymore, but rather, I was standing out and in a good way.

Pretty in Polka Dots | #SocietyPlus #polkadots #skirt #plussizefashion #fashion #womensfashion

To all of my plus size ladies who are reading this – you do not have to hide. Get out of those dark, black clothes and let yourself shine. Whether you stand out with polka dots or want to flaunt your curves in a bright pink skirt, or even a tutu (all of which Society+ has), don’t be afraid to be you. This just so happens to be one of the things I love about Society+.

Society+ offers the young, fun, and vibrant clothing women want, but that plus size women can never find in a regular store. And not only that, but the company is devoted to diversity, in size and everything else.

Pretty in Polka Dots | #SocietyPlus #polkadots #skirt #plussizefashion #fashion #womensfashion

When you shop Society+ you will only find real plus size women, modeling real plus size clothes. Not an average woman modeling the same piece that’s supposed to work on a plus size woman. Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m not average. I am above average and have always strived to be in everything I do. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that!

As for this Makena Polka Dot Chiffon Skirt, I love that I can wrangle my kids and look good doing it. The little one made a run for it across the grass at the pier, but there are no steps at the end. In fear that she’d run clear off the edge onto the walkway, I had to chase her and snatch her up before she had that chance. As you can see both kids thought it was pretty funny. There’s something fun about wearing a flowy, non-restricting, and twirl-worthy skirt to play with your kids.

Pretty in Polka Dots | #SocietyPlus #polkadots #skirt #plussizefashion #fashion #womensfashion

The only thing I dislike about the skirt is that it’s a little large, but that’s no fault of Society+. I am a size 18/20 in literally every other brand and I measured myself before ordering. But after getting my new skirt I think it’s safe to say I can comfortably size down to a 14/16 and that’s what I should have done with this skirt. It has an elastic waistband, which is comfortable in itself, but as I walked around it inched its way down a little bit and I found myself adjusting it quite often.

Other than that, my new Makena Polka Dot Chiffon Dress is a great addition to my wardrobe and I can’t wait to style it a different way!

Shop the Makena Polka Dot Chiffon Skirt ($69.99) here and save $10 through August 10th with promo code SAS10SKIRT!

Crate Space = Easy Savings on Household Essentials

Crate Space is an easy way to save on personal and household essentials, without clipping coupons and tracking down sales! #CrateSpace #savingmoney #household #essentials #smartshopper #deliveryservice #homedelivery
~Thank you to Crate Space for providing a free box for review. As always, opinions are still 100% my own.~

Allow me to introduce you to my newest way of saving time and money – Crate Space. Simply put, Crate Space is a way to get personal and household essentials delivered to my door within a matter of a day or two, and save on those essentials without clipping coupons and tracking down sales. Do you know how much time it takes me to coupon and match up sales?!

How does Crate Space work?

It is super easy, otherwise I probably wouldn’t bother. You know me, trying to make time wherever I can!

Crate Space is an easy way to save on personal and household essentials, without clipping coupons and tracking down sales! #CrateSpace #savingmoney #household #essentials #smartshopper #deliveryservice #homedelivery

Simply head over to Crate Space and add any 5 items on the website to your cart. No matter what their retail price is (which isn’t shown when shopping, by the way), you only pay $29.99 and shipping in the U.S. is absolutely free! Like I said earlier, no clipping coupons, no tracking down sales, and there’s no worry about tax or shipping prices. Just $29.99 and all 5 items are yours!

When you check out, just so you know you’re getting a good deal, Crate Space calculates how much you’re saving based on the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of each product you’re ordering. At this point, you see each items retail price.

Crate Space is an easy way to save on personal and household essentials, without clipping coupons and tracking down sales! #CrateSpace #savingmoney #household #essentials #smartshopper #deliveryservice #homedelivery

What products does Crate Space offer?

Crate Space has a wide variety of essentials, from household and cleaning products, to bath and body, skin care, everyday health, and even essentials for kids. Baby wipes, anyone?

Crate Space is an easy way to save on personal and household essentials, without clipping coupons and tracking down sales! #CrateSpace #savingmoney #household #essentials #smartshopper #deliveryservice #homedelivery

Why is Crate Space better than its competitors?

Amazon: First and foremost there are no membership fees or third-party sellers like with Amazon. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Amazon Prime! But with Crate Space, shipping to the U.S. is always free and I don’t have to pay $99/yr for it to be free.

Jet: Jet has dynamic pricing, meaning prices change from time to time based on demand for a given product. With Crate Space, the pricing NEVER changes.

Boxed: You have to spend $49 with Boxed to get free shipping and the site only offers huge sizes, sometimes making storage an issue at home. Crate Space? I’ve said it already and I’ll say it again – $29.99 plus free shipping! No questions asked.

And last, but not least, Crate Space stocks only the products people really want and in the sizes that are most popular. Have you ever gone to Amazon for paper towels, just to find there’s 25 types/sizes of the same brand? Who has time to look through all of that? I’m trying to make more time in my life for the things that really matter, and that does not include shopping for paper towels. With Crate Space, I can pick the product and keep it moving.

How did I do with my Crate Space box?

Let’s take a closer look at the Crate Space box I just ordered. All 5 products I ordered are ones that I’m currently in need of, or I know I will be soon. I ordered shaving cream (summer’s not quite over yet, so my beary hairy legs have to wait a couple more months), face wash, deodorant (yea, summer again), dishwasher tabs, and batteries (with the upcoming holidays and kids toys, we’ll go through these in no time).

Crate Space is an easy way to save on personal and household essentials, without clipping coupons and tracking down sales! #CrateSpace #savingmoney #household #essentials #smartshopper #deliveryservice #homedelivery

The retail cost of these 5 products is $47.95 plus whatever I would pay in taxes. But with Crate Space I’d pay only $29.99, saving me 38%, and I received my box within 2 days! I’d call that a win. And I didn’t have to clip coupons or shop around for sales.

With it being back to school time, I’m sure there are plenty of things we all need to stock up on. To make it easy, on the Crate Space homepage, there are packages already built. You simply have to click “Add All” and you’re ready for checkout just like that! Sending a child to college? Just think, Crate Space is a perfect way to send them a care package.
