Kids Tulle Skirt | C’est Ça New York

With some precious holidays coming up, like Valentine’s Day and Easter, I have been looking for the perfect, versatile fashion piece for my daughter. When I came across C’est Ça New York and its kids tulle skirts, I knew I had found exactly what I was looking for.

What initially drew me to the kids tulle skirt at C’est Ça New York is the semi-puffy nature. When I think of tulle skirts, I immediately think of a tutu, which can be pretty full and puffy. And while they are adorable, in my opinion they aren’t as versatile in nature.

C’est Ça New York kids tulle skirts have four layers of high-density soft tulle. Just enough to give a little flare, but not over the top puffy. I find it to be just the right amount of flare to keep the piece versatile and a part of my daughter’s everyday wardrobe. We can dress it up or dress it down on any given day.

The other thing that attracted me to the kids tulle skirt is all of the beautiful colors it comes in. The more pastel colors, like champagne, blush pink, and blush peach are all perfect for spring and summer time. (Also available in white, ash gray, navy, black, and beige.)

I put together a cute Valentine’s Day outfit for my daughter and it’s definitely a hit. I decided to give the blush peach skirt a little bit of a rocker kick with black leggings, black leather jacket, and of course, her heart-shaped glasses. Rocker-chic, it’s just a prime example of how versatile the piece it.

And since the first time she tried it on, she has gone into her room and put on her tulle skirt and leather jacket every day since. So I think it’s safe to say she loves it. I can’t wait to put together an Easter look!

The actual fit of the kids tulle skirt is spot on, too. My daughter is currently wearing 3T, which corresponds with C’est Ça New York’s kids size medium (3T/4T). I’m always a little concerned when ordering from somewhere new that the sizing may be off a little, whether too small or too big, but this skirt fit perfectly. (Available in sizes 6m-8.)

The flat stretchy waistband also makes it a comfortable fit. Even as my daughter grows, the stretchy waistband will allow her to fit this tulle skirt for at least a couple of years to come.

If the kids tulle skirt isn’t fun enough alone, they also come in Mommy and Me sets! If you want to match your daughter anytime soon, you can order your own tulle skirt in the exact same color as your child’s. You’ll both be too cute to handle!

How would you style a kids tulle skirt from C’est Ça New York?

Free Tooth Fairy Printables

My son has been coming home lately telling me about the kids in his class who are losing teeth while at school. My son has yet to lose any of his baby teeth, but this got me thinking. It’s a big milestone in a kid’s life, so what kind of fun can I incorporate with his first lost tooth (and those afterward) – a Tooth Fairy Door Hanger and Receipt for his tooth!

Free Tooth Fairy Printable | #ToothFairy #lostatooth #babyteeth

Free Tooth Fairy Printable | #ToothFairy #lostatooth #babyteeth

You can incorporate the same fun by simply printing these out (click each image for a printable PDF file)! Once printed, cut out the door hanger and have your child place it on their bedroom door. It’s just a cute reminder for the Tooth Fairy to stop by.

Have your child place their tooth just under their pillow and when the Tooth Fairy arrives, fill out the Tooth Fairy Receipt and leave it in place of the tooth, along with payment for the pearly white. Be sure to indicate the quality of the tooth and brushing. If your child isn’t that great about brushing, make sure the Tooth Fairy makes it known. It might entice some better dental hygiene.

These printables add a little extra excitement to losing those baby teeth, other than the goofy smiles they leave behind. The new smiles are super funny, but a personalized receipt from the Tooth Fairy is pretty darn cool.

Photo a Day: Weeks 33 & 34 | #photoaday #photoadayforayear

I’m finding it harder and harder to keep up with my Photo a Day posts. Time is just flying by and weeks have passed before I realize it. I think I’m going to have to set reminders for myself so I can stay on track. This series will be over before I know it!

Week 33

Photo a Day: Weeks 33 & 34 | #photoaday #photoadayforayear
This week was our first real snow of the season, so there was staring out the window at the sight all week and a day of digging ourselves out of the house. Before the snow fell I did a grocery store run and did some couponing, which I haven’t done in awhile. It felt good to save so much money and I can’t wait for my next coupon trip! Other than that, it looks like the kids stole my phone for some goofy pics and I discovered one was eating in my bed, which explains where all the crumbs came from that I was sleeping in. Oh, and daddy made into the picture roll at some point too.

Week 34

Photo a Day: Weeks 33 & 34 | #photoaday #photoadayforayear
This week was back to school. It was too cold to walk so I drove my son to school and there was a snow pile blocking an entire lane of traffic, and it was higher than my SUV (the pic was taken from my driver side window). Exciting during the week was my son’s 6th birthday, a new potty because it’s potty training time, and some yummy homemade chocolate peanut clusters. Funny this week was my daughter grabbing a whole chicken thigh and going to town, and her falling asleep in the middle of the kids room when they were supposed to be cleaning it.

Weekly Meal Planning in Under 1 Minute

I have always wanted to try meal planning, but it just seems way too time consuming. With that being said, I decide each day what I’m going to cook for dinner and sometimes that means going to the grocery store multiple times per week because I don’t have everything I need. Well, that’s just as time consuming.

Do you do this too? What if I told you I’ve discovered an amazing tool that will send you a 5 day meal plan WITH a grocery shopping list, right to your email inbox every week? That is exactly what The Dinner Daily does!

Weekly Meal Planning in Under 1 Minute | #TheDinnerDaily #mealplanning

~I received a complimentary subscription to The Dinner Daily to help facilitate this post. As always, opinions are still 100% my own.~

So, weekly meal planning in under one minute? Yes, it’s completely possible with The Dinner Daily. The Dinner Daily is a subscription website where you sign up, designate your food preferences, family size, and even your favorite store. From there The Dinner Daily does the rest.

Each week The Dinner Daily will create five recipes based on your preferences and your store’s weekly sales promotions, and in your inbox you’ll receive the recipes plus a shopping list. How’s that for a time saver?! And money saver!

When I first tried The Dinner Daily, I started small. Of the five recipes I’d get emailed to me, I only did two of them. I wanted to get a feel for how it would work for me and my family. Since that first time, I’ve upped it to three or four meals each week, not only because it’s easy, but because it introduces us to new recipes too. Dinner can get pretty boring when you get in a routine and cook the same meals over and over.

Weekly Meal Planning in Under 1 Minute | #TheDinnerDaily #mealplanning

When you get your weekly meal plan, you have the option to delete recipes that you’re not interested in or just don’t want to try that week. Or if you’re not happy with the side dishes, you can swap those out as well. There are different side options to choose from and when you change up your menu, the ingredients are automatically adjusted on the shopping list too. If there’s something you want to add to your shopping list, you can do that before printing it.

For example, staples like seasonings and oils aren’t usually on the shopping list because a lot of people already have those at home. But if you’re running low or need whatever it is, just add it to the list before printing. Even if you just need to purchase a loaf of bread or a pack of diapers, you can add that so your list is all-inclusive when you head to the store.

Weekly Meal Planning in Under 1 Minute | #TheDinnerDaily #mealplanningWeekly Meal Planning in Under 1 Minute | #TheDinnerDaily #mealplanning

The shopping list has been my biggest time saver with The Dinner Daily. I can spend an hour creating a list of everything I need, but The Dinner Daily sends my list to me, ready to go. That means just one trip to the grocery store each week, not multiple. So it’s saving me time not only in the planning phase, but also in the actual grocery shopping phase.

From the time I open my weekly meal plan from The Dinner Daily, review the menu, make any quick changes I want, and print my shopping list, it only takes a minute of my day. It’s weekly meal planning in less than a minute!

Want in on this easy meal planning tool? You can try The Dinner Daily for 2 weeks, risk free! After that you can get weekly meal plans for as little as $1.00 per week. What’s not to love? Save time, save money, and eat good food!

Do you do weekly meal planning?

Photo a Day: Weeks 30, 31, 32 | #photoadayforayear #photoaday

Well, the holidays definitely got in the way of updating my Photo a Day, so this time around you get three weeks worth. At least enjoying the holidays is a good excuse to be late! Who’s ready for New Year’s?!

Week 30

Photo a Day: Weeks 30, 31, 32 | #photoadayforayear #photoaday
While trying to endure the cold weather (that has only gotten colder), the kids got new winter coats. We tried to stay indoors as much as possible, but had to venture out to BJ’s where my daughter admired the holiday inflatables, and I also had a dentist’s appointment. My daughter was “working” on her LeapFrog tablet while we waited.

Week 31

Photo a Day: Weeks 30, 31, 32 | #photoadayforayear #photoaday
The week before Christmas was still all about Christmas. My son had a festive week at school where he got to dress out of his uniform each day (PJ day was his fav), and we made his class Christmas cards and goody bags. We also got to see Santa and the kids got an early present from their uncle (that racetrack is loud by the way). All of the fun Christmas activities wore the kids out, so some relaxing was had too.

Week 32

Photo a Day: Weeks 30, 31, 32 | #photoadayforayear #photoaday
Christmas week! Just look at that face of surprise and excitement on Christmas morning. We made Santa cookies to leave under the tree and after Christmas was over, it was back to good ol’ PB&J sandwiches. I had to go back to the doctor for my third attempt at an anatomy ultrasound because our little guy didn’t want to show his left hand. The ultrasound tech had to toggle between 2D and 3D ultrasound, so I lucked out and got a 3D pic of him. Then it was back to normal shenanigans, like my daughter stealing my spot in bed.

Medications You Can Take While Pregnant

One of the worst things about pregnancy is getting sick. You can’t just go to the store and pick up any over the counter medication you want, but there are some medications that are safe for you to take. This list of symptoms and medications you can take while pregnant will help when that time comes.

Medications You Can Take While Pregnant | #pregnant #sick

~I am not a medical professional and the info provided here is info that was provided to me by my OB/GYN. If you have questions or a serious illness, please visit your doctor.~

I’ve gotten sick at least once with every pregnancy, including right now with my third. And while I’ve been through it before, I still find myself looking online and asking my doctor what is safe to take.

Luckily, this time around my doctor gave me a list of medications that are safe to take while pregnant. This was the first time in three pregnancies that I’ve received a list like this and it has been a lifesaver. It has saved me from finding incorrect information online and also saved me additional visits to my doctor.

I know I’m not alone, so I want to share with you this list of acceptable medications to take while pregnant.

No matter what, don’t ever take Aspirin, Advil or Motrin while pregnant.

Nausea/Vomiting

  • Pepto Bismol
  • Emetrol

Remember that nausea and vomiting are typical in pregnancy, but anytime you experience excessive nausea/vomiting, call your doctor. If you’re unable to keep liquid down for more than one day, are weak or dizzy, you need to make a visit to your doctor.

Cold/Flu

  • Aches/Pains – Tylenol
  • Congestion – Sudafed
  • Coughing – Robitusin
  • Sore Throat – Chloraseptic/Cepacol Lozenges; Listerine gargle

One of my favorite home remedies for a sore throat is hot/warm honey chamomile tea. Add a teaspoon (or more) of honey to the steeped tea and you’re good to go. Adding a little lemon helps too. This has been my go-to for a sore throat for all three pregnancies.

Medications You Can Take While Pregnant | #pregnant #sick

If you have a fever over 101 degrees, are coughing up a lot of phlegm, or have no improvement in 2-3 days, you need to make a visit to your doctor.

Heartburn/Gas

  • Mylanta
  • Maalox
  • Tums
  • Rolaids

If you experience severe abdominal pain, you need to make a visit to your doctor.

Allergies

  • Benadryl
  • Zyrtec
  • Allegra
  • Claritin

Constipation

  • Senakot
  • Psyllium
  • Konsyl Easy Mix – stool softener and natural laxative
  • Milk of Magnesia/Colace – Take twice a day if stool is hard. It takes one week to be effective.
  • Include salads/leafy greens in your diet and drink plenty of water.

Diarrhea

  • Kaopectale
  • Pepto Bismol
  • BRAT Diet – bananas, rice, applesauce, tea or toast

Headaches

  • Tylenol (regular or extra strength), two tabs every 4 hours

Hemorrhoids

  • Konsyl Easy Mix
  • Preparation H or Anusol
  • Tucks

Leg Cramps

  • Oscal 500 mg or similar over the counter calcium, twice a day
  • Massage area and apply light heat.

Dental

  • It is okay to see your dentist:
    • Get x-rays with abdominal shield
    • Receive novacaine
    • Take antibiotics and/or pain meds
  • Gum bleeding is common. See your dentist if it persists.

Skylands Stadium Christmas Lights Show 2017

One of my fondest childhood memories around the holidays was visiting a drive through Christmas lights display. It was something I looked forward to every year, but after moving out of state there wasn’t anything like it around our new home. Now having a family of my own, it’s a tradition I thought would be great to share with my kids.

You may know that we moved to New Jersey just over a year ago and last year I was browsing online and discovered Skylands Stadium Christmas Lights Show. The stadium is over an hour away from our home, so we decided not to go last year. But this year, we got the opportunity to check it out. It may not be the same Christmas lights display I experienced as a child, but it is the perfect way to start this fun tradition with my kids, hour drive or not.

Every year Skylands Stadium, located in Augusta, NJ, puts on a Christmas Lights Show. It’s a 1 mile winding drive through light display, currently showcasing over 2 million lights. Simply drive up to the entrance of the light show, pay the admission ($20 per vehicle Fri.-Sun., $17 Mon.-Thurs.), and you get to drive through the entire lights display with your family.

Most evenings the Christmas Lights Show starts at 4:30pm (about the time the sun sets) and is open until 10 or 11 pm. We arrived at about 6 pm this past Sunday and there was a line to gain admission, but it didn’t take too long to get to the front of the line. As soon as we took care of admission, the lights show started right at the entrance.

The mile long light display is filled with holiday themed characters and trinkets, and fun light animations – Santa Claus, reindeer, snowmen, candy canes, the nativity scene, wreaths, Christmas trees, gifts, and more. My family’s favorite parts were the displays that we could actually drive under and if I had to choose their most favorite, it was the light tunnel at the end of the show. We were literally encapsulated with lights all around.

Skylands Stadium Christmas Lights Show 2017 | #SkylandsStadium #ChristmasLights

After finishing the Christmas Lights Show, we parked our car and wandered into the Christmas Village, which was filled with various vendors, holiday activities, and goodies. Before actually reaching the Christmas Village we got to walk through Bright Baum Light Forest and Advance Auto Parts Light Tunnel. Bright Baum Light Forest was stunning and lined with white trees lit with white lights. It was very beautiful and makes a great place for a photo opp.

Speaking of photo opps, there are plenty of them in the Christmas Village. Not only can you get your photo taken with Santa (fee required), but there other fun set ups to take photos – with a nutcracker, in a large nativity scene, with animated reindeer and a sleigh, or an 8 foot polar bear right outside the Christmas Village.

As if this wasn’t enough fun and excitement, right outside the Christmas Village you’ll also find an outdoor grill and fire pit for roasting s’mores, as well as the 20′ x 40′ Pompton Sport Center Skating Rink. I have never tried ice skating before and I’m not even a great roller skater, so when my son asked to ice skate I was skeptical. But we gave in and I’m glad we did because he had a blast.

Skylands Stadium Christmas Lights Show 2017 | #SkylandsStadium #ChristmasLights

At first he stayed around the outer skirt of the rink so he could hold onto the fence, but after gaining some confidence he found his way to the middle, enjoying every minute of it. Besides the lights show, I think ice skating is what he’ll remember most about our visit.

There’s still time this holiday season to check out the Skylands Stadium Christmas Lights Show. It’s open every night through December 30th, with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Christmas Village is only open through December 23rd.

Skylands Stadium Frozen in Ice

If you can’t make it to the Christmas Lights Show, the Frozen in Ice Wild West Ice Sculpture Extravaganza starts January 27th. It will be filled with over 100 tons of ice used for ice sculptures and more. Take a ride down the ice slide or try to find your way through life-sized ice maze. It’s sure to be more family-filled fun!

What is a childhood holiday tradition you share with your kids?

When I look for jewelry and accessories, silver is my go-to. I’ve never really been a big fan of gold colored accessories, but as I was browsing 7 Charming Sisters, that quickly changed. And guess what? I ordered gold pieces! I’m happy I did, too, because it was love at first try.

Necklaces are my thing, so naturally I started there and picked out the Peaceful Demonstration Necklace, featuring a fun tassel design. This has been my favorite piece I ordered and I’ve been wearing it with everything, not just my holiday outfit.

It’s long design makes it perfect for pairing with all types of top shapes and just to name a few, I’ve worn it with a navy off the shoulder top and my favorite sleeveless green dress. It’s perfect for dressing up or down, so it will definitely get a lot of use from me.

From there I needed to get coordinating earrings and a bracelet. I opted for the Istanbul Earrings and Stay All Day Bracelet, both in gold. Again, what I love about these pieces is that they can be dressed up or down. I can wear them on any given day or for a special occasion, and they coordinate perfectly with my necklace.

As if it couldn’t get any better, each piece is affordable. For all three pieces the total was just $41 (necklace $17, earrings on sale for $7, bracelet $17). With as much use as I’ll get out of each piece, I’d say that is money well spent.
