You know what I miss about living in Florida? The warmer weather. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy watching the snow fall, playing in it with my kids and the beautiful scenery it makes. And as far as Florida weather goes, I did hate that I broke a sweat just walking to the car, so the cooler weather is a nice change.
But what I miss the most about the warm weather is the ability to throw on a cute skirt and some sandals, and call it a day. Now I just layer and layer, while waiting for the first hint of warmer weather. I’m so ready for spring to arrive and while I may be ready, Mother Nature is not.
See the snow in that photo up there? There are remnants of last week’s snow in both NJ and across the river in NYC. It’s time to melt already! Even with snow on the ground and feeling like an icicle, I was determined to show Mother Nature how ready I am for warmer days to arrive. Come on Mama N, can we please move into spring?
While I not so patiently wait, I’m already getting my wardrobe spring ready. My first new wardrobe addition is just one of the most amazingly beautiful and comfortable floral pencil skirts from Cents of Style. I used to think of floral prints as something that only belonged on elaborate rugs and tapestries, but they’re so much more! Floral prints are everything and my recent wardrobe extensions attest to that.
Just look at how gorgeous this print is! I chose this particular one because I love the classic black background and the warm colors of the flowers. This skirt has so many style options, from pairing with a variety of color combos to pattern mixing. Dressing up or dressing down. Paired with tights or worn bare legged. While rocking some sexy heels or taking it easy with simple sandals. The options are endless!
So how do I prefer to style this versatile floral pencil skirt? I like taking a dressed down, mom on the go kind of approach. I’m a busy working at home mom and most days have on a pair of jeans, a tank (and coat now that we live in the cold) and of course, rocking my mom bun.
Occasionally I like to trade in my jeans for a cute dress or skirt, but ones that are still practical for mom life. This floral pencil skirt is exactly that. It’s lightweight, stretchy and all around perfect for spring (whenever it gets here). Comfort is important to me as I run errands and chase my kids, and Cents of Style definitely delivers!
My perfect look starts with a little pattern mixing. I chose to pair the skirt with a black and white striped swing dress. Yes, stripes and florals are great compliments to each other. And yes, I’m pairing a dress with a skirt. Who would have thought, right?
I just knotted the front of the swing dress, giving the skirt a peek-a-boo effect in the front, while the back of the dress covers most of the back of the skirt. To finish off the look I have my trusty red Converse sneakers and my everyday go-to mom bun. I love it! It’s stylishly fashionable, but still practical for my everyday needs.
The more I think about how much I love this skirt and how versatile it is, the more I think (okay, the more I know) I need to buy more prints. Give me all the floral skirts! Luckily for me (and you), they’re on sale for $19.95 this weekend with code FLORALSTORY. Plus shipping is free! Woohoo!
And for all you curvy girls, Cents of Style offers their floral skirts in sizes S-3X, so those of us who have sexy and voluptuous curves can enjoy them too.
Which floral print is your favorite? How will you style your skirt?
