Ecocentric Mom has done away with the Mom and Pregnancy subscription boxes, and are now offering Build Your Own Bundles instead! Check them out! #EcocentricMom #subscriptionbox #ecofriendly
~Thank you to Ecocentric Mom for providing product for review. As always, opinions are still 100% my own. This post also contains affiliate links, in which I will receive a small commission for your purchase.~

To all of my fellow Ecocentric Mom lovers (or future lovers), there’s a fun new feature on the website that I just know you are going to enjoy – Build Your Own Bundle! Today I’m going to give you the low down on how Build Your Own Bundle works and share with you my first one.

First off, if you’re not familiar with Ecocentric Mom, it is hands down THE best eco-friendly subscription box around. At least that’s how I feel about it. With nothing but all-natural, organic, non-toxic products for mom, baby, and your family/home in general, there’s no better way to try new products. And if you get something in your box that you can’t live without, chances are it can be purchased individually at Ecocentric Mom too.

Let’s get into the new Build Your Own Bundle feature! It never fails, no matter type of subscription box you have, there will always be times you get something in the box that either you can’t use, or just isn’t something you want to use. Ecocentric Mom has eliminated that problem with the Build Your Own Bundle feature.

You choose every item that comes in the box, so when it arrives on your doorstep and you open it up, there are no surprises. On the flip side, I understand surprises are sometimes fun, but what’s not fun is spending money on products you won’t use.

Ecocentric Mom has done away with the Mom and Pregnancy subscription boxes, and are now offering Build Your Own Bundles instead! Check them out! #EcocentricMom #subscriptionbox #ecofriendly

Right now Ecocentric Mom has phased out their monthly Mom and Pregnancy subscription boxes, and replaced them with a Build Your Own Clean Lifestyle Bundle (for mom/$29.99) and a Build Your Own Pregnancy Bundle (for expectant moms/$39.99).

But never fear, the Mom & Baby monthly subscription box is still available. So moms with infants/toddlers up to age 2 years, are still covered.

So, how do the Build Your Own Bundle boxes work? It’s super easy! You go to the desired Build Your Own Bundle box and from drop-down menus choose the products you want. I recently created a Build Your Own Clean Lifestyle Bundle and got to choose full size products from each of these categories:

  • Luxury Skincare/Beauty
  • Clean Beauty/Makeup
  • Health & Wellness
  • Eco-Lifestyle Accessory

Ecocentric Mom has done away with the Mom and Pregnancy subscription boxes, and are now offering Build Your Own Bundles instead! Check them out! #EcocentricMom #subscriptionbox #ecofriendly

In each category you have at least five products to choose from and sometimes more. Every month new items are added, so you don’t have to worry about lack of  variety to choose from. This time around, for my clean lifestyle bundle, I chose:

  • Marine Granules Exfoliator by Previse
  • Lip Locked Stain by Mana Kadar Beauty (I have one of these from a previous Ecocentric Mom box and LOVE it! It’s my everyday go-to color, no matter what kind of mood I’m in, so having a backup doesn’t hurt.)
  • Simply Organic Sunblock by Z Skin Cosmetics
  • Snack Happens Reusable Snack and Everything Bag by Itzy Ritzy

When my box arrived, which was just like three days after placing my order, that’s exactly what was in my box. I even had a little added bonus snack bar by MadeGood. It was delicious, by the way.

Oh, and did I mention the amazing savings you’re getting? The Build Your Own Clean Lifestyle Bundle is $29.99, but you’re getting full size products that can retail upwards of $100. That is some awesome savings!

So what do you think? Doesn’t get much easier, right? No wasting money on unwanted products. And no wondering what’s going to come in this month’s box. It’s a win-win!

With Text2Save Your Savings Are Always with You

With Text2Save Your Savings Are Always with You #text2save #savingmoney #coupons #digitalsavings

Have you ever gone shopping, just to realize you had a coupon you could have used, but darn it, you left it at home or can’t remember where you saw the savings? Yeap. Happens to me ALL the time and I hate it.

Ya’ll know I love saving money any way I can and when I get to the store and realize I forgot my coupons or digital savings, I die a little inside. True story. But with the new Text2Save, I don’t have to worry about that anymore. I’m saving all the money I can and don’t have to worry about leaving anything at home.

What is Text2Save?

Text2Save is a new way to not only save big money while you shop, but save the offer when you are ready to buy. I realize people might have some reservations about it, so let me clear that up right now.

I Trust Text2Save

Thanks to working closely with ShopShare Network, I have the insider scoop on how Text2Save works. ShopShare does their due diligence to make sure they are offering something that benefits everyone. Lots of research went into this program before the launch. Lawyers and compliance teams, and all the boring things necessary to make sure my audience receives valuable offers from brands you love and only when you give your express permission. It’s a convenient way of shopping, save the offer for later, and/or share with it your friends.

What’s in it for me?

Well, I’m not sure if you knew this but there are millions of bloggers in the US alone. On a daily basis, we are driven to provide our audience with valuable information and product recommendations. We aren’t professional sales people, we are doing what we love and trying to make a living doing it. The blogger community has gotten more and more competitive as advertisers demand more and more performance from us, more likes, more clicks, more comments, more, and more, and more. The net result is dollars over quality, and we aren’t down for that. Content should be inspired and not a volume based business, but the reality is, it has quickly become that.

Text2Save by ShopShare Network allows me to more wisely choose what content I want to write about, while earning income sharing about brands and hot deals that I CHOOSE via social media or on my blog!

How Does It Work?

When you opt-in to Text2Save, ShopShare Network sends instructions to your mobile device on how to redeem the offer, with my affiliate tracking link that allows me to earn a small commission on anything purchased, at no extra cost to you. In fact, ShopShare is negotiating hard to provide some of the best deals available exclusively to their blogger network.

This is a convenient form of direct response advertising. Remember this:

Call this 1-800 number and receive 50% off. If you call in within 24 hours you’ll get double your order. Blah, blah, blah.

Now, texting has replaced phone calls! Text2Save is an efficient and effective way to deliver the offer directly to your mobile device, save money on the brands and products you love, and be able to actually find the offer when you are ready to use it. There are expiration dates but don’t worry because ShopShare’s Text2Save program ensures you know what you are signing up for!

How does it work? (Example ONLY)

1. I will post promotions on my blog or social media channels

  • Text TRIP120 to 12345
  • You can expect to see disclosures when I post a promotion: USA Only. Message & data rates may apply. You agree to receive information and product promotions up to 4 automated text messages per month from TravelBrand.com. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Text STOP to 77453 to cancel anytime.

With Text2Save Your Savings Are Always With You #text2save #savingmoney #coupons #digitalsavings

2. A text message will be sent within a few minutes asking you to reply YES to confirm you want to receive information about a specific offer.

With Text2Save Your Savings Are Always With You #text2save #savingmoney #coupons #digitalsavings

3. Click on the link at the bottom to redeem offer and use promotion code at checkout to ensure you receive the discount.

With Text2Save Your Savings Are Always With You #text2save #savingmoney #coupons #digitalsavings

4) A reminder message may be sent so don’t be alarmed, promotions generally don’t last long so I want to ensure you take advantage.

Reasons to Use Text2Save

Exclusive savings – In most cases, the coupon codes offered through Text2Save are exclusive and larger than what you will find elsewhere.

Always with you – How many times do you have that piece of mail with a coupon code on it with you when you want to buy the item? Or, you remember seeing a great code somewhere, but can’t find it once you’re ready to buy. Finding a current code online isn’t always easy. With Text2Save the code is in your text messages. And I’m willing to bet your phone is always with you.

Customized offers – The keywords to text are niche-specific, so you’ll only get deals on what you’re interested in.

No spam – To run Text2Save offers on the brand’s side, much compliance is necessary. That means you can read exactly what you are signing up for. The disclosure message will say exactly how many texts you will receive, and you can believe it. Compliance is not something anyone wants to mess with.

Opt out anytime – There’s clear messaging on how to opt out easily at any time. If you signed up for more than one promotion and the short code, otherwise known as the number you text to, and enter STOP, you will be opted-out of all promotions associated with that number. You can choose to opt-in again when you see an offer you like.

Advertising continues to evolve with technology. Text2Save is not a gimmick or spammy trick. It’s simply a way to reach people where they are nowadays – their phones. Consumers can reap the rewards in big savings. Influencers can participate to earn affiliate money. It’s a promising platform that we can all feel comfortable embracing!

FoamCorePrint.com is the Affordable Way to Display Your Photos {Giveaway}

FoamCorePrint.com is the Affordable Way to Display Your Photos #gatorboard #foamboard #FoamCorePrint
~This post is sponsored by FoamCorePrint.com. As always, opinions are still 100% my own.~

When it comes to home decor, I love to display family photos throughout my home. We have photos up in just about every room. From traditional picture frames and photos, to canvas prints, and now we’ve added a few Gator Board Prints.

I was recently looking for something to add some love to my kids room. I’ve been trying to make their room more lively lately, so when looking for prints to display I thought it would be perfect to get some Gator Board Prints of the two of them.

FoamCorePrint.com is the Affordable Way to Display Your Photos #gatorboard #foamboard #FoamCorePrint

I call it the Sibling Love Series and I’ve placed them in a small and awkward space of their room, the wall area just outside their closet. It was white and boring, but with the addition of their new Gator Board Prints, that space is now adorned with their sibling love.

Gator Board is a type of foam board that offers a more sturdy solution to traditional foam board printing. Just to give you an idea, traditional foam board can easily bend, dent, and is generally a lot more fragile. So you could say Gator Board is the tough, protective big brother to it’s baby sister, foam board.

Gator Board comes with an all black border and back, which I love because it gives a shadow type of effect, and it’s super lightweight. So if you ever find yourself moving to a new place, Gator Board Prints definitely won’t weigh down a moving box like traditional picture frames will.

FoamCorePrint.com is the Affordable Way to Display Your Photos #gatorboard #foamboard #FoamCorePrint

FoamCorePrint.com is the Affordable Way to Display Your Photos #gatorboard #foamboard #FoamCorePrint

You could say one of the downsides of Gator Board is that there’s nothing on the back to hang it with, but personally I actually prefer this. The back of the print is completely flat and this allows me to use the double sided sticky Command strips to stick them to the wall. You get that floating effect and there’s no damage done to either the Gator Board or the wall.

It’s perfect for us since we currently rent, but even if you own your home, the less damage you do, the better, right? I mean, what if you decide to change things up one day and move your prints to a different room, or a different place in the same room? I would hate to be left with a nail or hole in the wall.

FoamCorePrint.com is the Affordable Way to Display Your Photos #gatorboard #foamboard #FoamCorePrint

Printing on foam board is THE most affordable way I’ve found to display my favorite photos and images, while keeping the quality of the photo. And my favorite place to order them from is FoamCorePrint.com.

Price depends on the size you want, but Gator Board Prints from FoamCorePrint.com start at just $0.15 per piece! If you’re looking to do a nice small collage, or even grow a display into something large and eye catching, it really doesn’t get more affordable.

As for my Sibling Love Series, I love the idea of over the years adding more brother/sister photos to the display. I’ll continue with the same size and maybe once a year go through all of my photos and choose three more to add to it. And when the kids are older, it will be fun to have this Sibling Love Series of Gator Board Prints to look back on.

New Jersey State Fair Meadowlands

New Jersey State Fair Meadowlands #statefair #StateFairMeadowlands
~Thank you to State Fair Meadowlands for hosting the Making Time family. As always, opinions are still 100% my own.~

Last night my family got the chance to enjoy State Fair Meadowlands at MetLife Stadium, and everyone had tons of fun. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend visiting at night because the lights are gorgeous and the weather is just right for all the fair fun you’re going to have.

My kids didn’t know where we were going, but as soon as we got close enough to see the lit up rides and ferris wheels, it was nothing but ooh’s and aah’s in the car. Then the excitement went up a notch when they learned that’s where we were going. Yay!

A single admission to State Fair Meadowlands will get you access to all kinds of fair food and treats – burgers, turkey legs, corn on the cob, slushies, hot dogs, chicken on a stick, cotton candy, pizza, ice cream, and the list goes on and on. If you’re on a diet, better make sure it’s cheat day because the food is so hard to resist.

And if it’s not the food you’re after, there’s plenty of excitement with all of the different rides. Every ride requires tickets, but if you get an Unlimited Ride Pass (hand stamp) you can ride anything and everything your heart desires.

We gave our son an Unlimited Ride Pass and at first I was bummed because we couldn’t find any rides that he was tall enough for. Just as I had given up, we entered some kind of Kiddie Land where he could ride everything and that’s exactly what he wanted to do.

New Jersey State Fair Meadowlands #statefair #StateFairMeadowlands

And what would a fair be without some games? State Fair Meadowlands features so many different game stations, I can’t even count them. I’m talking ring tosses, dunk tanks, basketball hoops, bottle breaking, balloon popping, water squirting, gun shooting, you name it.

New Jersey State Fair Meadowlands #statefair #StateFairMeadowlands

I saw so many people walking around with prizes. As we were walking in, there was a group coming out carrying a bear literally as big as I am. I couldn’t even see the person who was carrying it, haha! That prize needed its own seat in the car.

If the food, rides and games aren’t enough for a fun filled night, there are free shows too. The shows vary from day to day, but you can find out each day’s schedule here. There are pig races, a hypnotist, musicians, comedians, high divers, an open-air thrill show, a petting zoo and more. And they’re all free as a part of your admission!

New Jersey State Fair Meadowlands #statefair #StateFairMeadowlands

My favorite part of our visit to State Fair Meadowlands was the fireworks. To celebrate the 4th of July holiday, they did a fireworks display last night and are doing it again tonight. These are top notch fireworks. Not those cheap, bought on the corner fireworks.

Just as my son was about to start on a ride, the street lights went dim and the booms lit up the sky. It was loud, but it was beautiful to watch. I’m definitely glad we decided to go on a night the fireworks show was happening.

New Jersey State Fair Meadowlands #statefair #StateFairMeadowlands

I can’t wait until next time and we might even go back before it ends on July 9th! For more information on shows, tickets, parking, and pricing, visit –> State Fair Meadowlands.

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That’s My Son

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

I’m kind of at a breaking point with this topic and need to clear the air. I can’t leave the house without someone mentioning how cute my girls are. My kids are my world and I love them dearly, and I want the world to love them too, for who they are.

I enjoy all of the compliments because my kids ARE cute. But what bothers me is that many people think or automatically assume that my oldest, the one with the long curly hair, is a girl simply because of the long hair.

He is not a girl. Yes, he has long, beautiful, curly hair. But he is a boy. I do not have two daughters. I have a son and a daughter.

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

I try not to let this bother me and I know I’ll still have to deal with it for years to come, but when I say this happens every time we leave the house, I’m not exaggerating. I could literally record myself saying, “He’s not a girl. This is my son,” and have it ready to play at any moment.

And it’s not everyone who compliments him, that assumes he’s a girl. Some people can see he’s a boy and ask questions like if we’ve ever cut his hair. Or they’ll ask how old he is, wondering how long his hair’s been growing. And sometimes I’ll even get asked about tips for managing it because other people are dealing with the same type and texture of hair with their own children, and it is not easy to manage.

But for those of you who think my son is actually my daughter, please just take a moment before you comment. If you take a closer look you’ll see that he is dressed like a boy and he looks like a boy. If you’re not sure, you can still compliment without being gender specific. Instead of using “daughter” or “her,” use “child.”

“I love your child’s hair,” is the perfect compliment. And when I respond, I’ll likely say “his” or “he,” and that’s your clue that he is in fact a boy.

If you DON’T take that moment before commenting, don’t get upset when I correct you, because I WILL correct you. No, I’m not interested in your unwanted advice. No, I’m not going to cut his hair so he will look like a boy. And if that’s your response, I promise, you will get more than you bargained for. He already looks like a boy. A boy with long, beautiful, curly hair. The cutest boy you’ll ever see (my opinion is definitely biased, but you get my point).

The child with the long curly hair, that’s my son.

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

The Child with the Long Curly Hair, That's My Son #heisnotagirl #ihaveason

So now that I’ve gotten that off my chest and if you’re now wondering –

When my son was smaller and his hair started getting out of control, I said it was time to cut it. But Daddy had other plans, so here we are five and a half years later and our son has never had his hair cut (unless you count the time he had a horrible tangle that I just couldn’t brush out so I snipped it).

My son’s hair has become a part of him. I have no idea what he would look like without it, but I imagine I wouldn’t even recognize him. The curls, the length, the way it frames his face, the way it looks in a pony tail or a bun, the wild frizz and tangles we deal with daily, it’s part of who he is. And I’m pretty sure if we were to cut it, he wouldn’t know how to react either.

Maybe he’ll grow up and keep his long locks. Maybe he’ll decide enough is enough, and cut it. Maybe he’ll even donate it. Whatever he chooses, it’s one thing we’re giving him the freedom of choosing on his own.

Cave Tools Stainless Steel 5 Hook Rack

Need a way to organize your grilling tools? Hang your bath towels or bathrobes? Organize your garden or workshop tools? Or in my case, organize your kids jackets? This Stainless Steel 5 Hook Rack from Cave Tools is the perfect solution to all of these! #CaveTools #organize #grillingtools #jacketrack #hangingrack

I consider myself an organized person. Everything has it’s place, even if it’s in the junk drawer. But since moving I’ve been struggling with the kids jackets. Up until now they have either been laid across the tops of their dressers, tossed on their beds, or thrown in the floor and I can’t take it anymore.

Thankfully, Cave Tools has swept in to save this organizational chaos. Now, when I think about Cave Tools, I always envision summer cookouts and BBQs because many of their products are based around grilling. The same can be said for their Stainless Steel 5 Hook Rack, but this product in particular is more multipurpose than just holding grilling tools.

The Stainless Steel 5 Hook Rack can be used indoors or outdoors, and measures 14.25″ by 2″, so it’s perfect for all kinds of things. I’m personally using it in my kids room as a solution to their jackets laying everywhere. But in addition to this and housing grilling tools, it could also used be in the bathroom for hanging towels and bathrobes, in the garage for hanging your garden or workshop tools, in the kitchen for hanging pots and pans, and just about anywhere else to hang anything you can imagine.

This Stainless Steel 5 Hook Rack from Cave Tools is the perfect solution to all of these! #CaveTools #organize #grillingtools #jacketrack #hangingrack

When my hook rack arrived and I opened it, I was surprised at all that was included. It actually comes with everything you’ll need – the rack itself, a screwdriver (wow!), and obviously the small screws and pieces too. It was the little added touch of including a screwdriver that made it special to me. I already have a screwdriver that I could use, but it’s still nice to know Cave Tools thought about everything just in case.

This Stainless Steel 5 Hook Rack from Cave Tools is the perfect solution to all of these! #CaveTools #organize #grillingtools #jacketrack #hangingrack

We are currently renting, so we’re trying to avoid putting holes in the wall when possible. To prevent more holes in the wall, I decided to use velcro command strips to hang the rack and the back of the hook rack is completely flat, so it worked out perfectly.

I placed the hook rack at just the right height for my 5 y/o son and there hasn’t been a jacket laid on a dresser, tossed on the bed, or thrown in the floor since. And I love that it’s an easy way to add a more homey touch to their room.

Save on a Stainless Steel 5 Hook Rack

Do you have a need for one or two of these Stainless Steel 5 Hook Rack’s? It’s available for purchase directly from Cave Tools and also at Amazon. When purchasing from Cave Tools, use promo code HOOKRACK15 and you’ll save 15% off the regular price of $14.99. This makes the hook rack just $12.75!

Try It Tuesday: Oil Pulling

Try It Tuesday: Oil Pulling | I tried oil pulling for 4 weeks and I'm sharing my results with you. Head over to the blog to see how it went! #tryitttuesday #oilpulling #coconutoil

~This post contains affiliate links, in which I will receive a small commission for your purchase.~

It’s a new edition of Try It Tuesday and this week I tried oil pulling. Well, the past four weeks I’ve been trying oil pulling. Have you ever heard of it? Ever tried it? Want to try it? Keep reading to see what oil pulling is all about and what kind of results I got!

What is oil pulling?

Oil pulling is the act of swishing around oil in your mouth to improve dental health. From the research I’ve done, there isn’t any solid evidence as to the effectiveness of oil pulling, but many sources indicate oil pulling has the following effects, among others:

  • Whiter teeth
  • Healthier gums
  • Less dental sensitivity
  • Fresher breath
  • Cures tooth decay
  • Reduces plaque
  • Improves skin
  • Helps with headaches

It’s believed that oil pulling literally pulls the toxins from your mouth, teeth and body, creating a healthier mouth and healthier you. Okay, so how true is all of this? I have no idea, but I thought I’d give it a go.

Process

The process of oil pulling is really simple. You swish a tablespoon of oil around in your mouth for 10-20 minutes, spit it out, rinse with water (or salt water), and brush your teeth as usual.

Easy right?

Try It Tuesday: Oil Pulling | I tried oil pulling for 4 weeks and I'm sharing my results with you. Head over to the blog to see how it went! #tryitttuesday #oilpulling #coconutoil

I’ve read you can use just about any type of oil, and have seen instances of vegetable oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil and sesame oil being used. I’m not sure if it really matters which oil you use, but I chose to go with coconut oil just in case I happen to swallow a little.

You’re not supposed to swallow any of it because you’d be swallowing the toxins you’re trying to get rid of, but if I happened to swallow some by accident I didn’t want it to be something like vegetable or olive oil. Yuck! I’m gagging just thinking about swallowing those.

I also chose coconut oil because of it’s known healing properties. I have been having really bad tooth sensitivity the past few months and would try anything to get rid of it. I would have gone to the dentist by now to get checked for cavities, but I don’t have dental insurance, so a home remedy it is.

The brand I used was Kala Coconut Oil from Kala Oils. I had this on hand from an Ecocentric Mom box that I had previously gotten and hadn’t used it yet, so I figured why not. It was a way for me to put it to good use!

Results

The exact process I followed was a tablespoon of coconut oil once a day, for 10 minutes, for four weeks (minus a few days because life happens).

Right away I could tell a difference in how my mouth felt. Throughout the day, and even after eating, my teeth and mouth just felt cleaner and fresher than usual. And you know how sometimes you might wake up with a nasty taste in your mouth. That was completely gone.

As for my tooth sensitivity, I think oil pulling has helped a little, but the sensitivity hasn’t completely subsided. I’m thinking there’s a good chance I already have enough damage to the sensitive area, that nothing can help but maybe a cavity filling. I’m also starting to wonder if maybe one of my fillings has fallen out. So, looks like I’ll be paying for a dentist’s visit sometime soon after all.

As far as whitening my teeth, there’s been some subtle lightening. It’s hard to get great photos of my teeth with the same type of lighting to ensure I’m showing actual results, but I did the best I could. So take a look at day 1 and day 28.

I can’t really say how many shades lighter my teeth are, but I can personally see a difference when I look in the mirror. Nothing drastic, but a difference nonetheless, so I’ll take it.

So is it worth the effort? I say yes if you’re looking for better general dental health. I like how my mouth and teeth feel compared to before and that’s good enough for me. But I don’t think it’s necessary to practice oil pulling every day. I’ll continue to practice it, but maybe just twice a week or so. For tooth sensitivity relief I’ll have to look elsewhere, and for whitening I think oil pulling longer term will offer better results, but I have plans to try some other things too.

Tips & Suggestions

If you’re going to try oil pulling, I’ve come up with a few do’s and don’ts. I’m sure if you go at it alone, you’ll come to the same conclusions.

Start small – If you feel like a tablespoon is too much, start with a teaspoon and test it out. You don’t have to jump right in. You also don’t have to start at 10 or 20 minutes, but try 5 minutes instead.

Do not use hardened coconut oil – If using coconut oil, you don’t want to start with it’s hardened form. Do something to melt it to liquid before putting it in your mouth. The oil would eventually melt in your mouth from the warmth, but it takes longer than you’d probably like and when measuring a tablespoon of hardened coconut oil, once it melts you’ll end up with more in your mouth than you bargained for.

Do not swish aggressively – There’s no need to swish the oil aggressively like mouthwash. It will tire you out. Just occasionally swish it through your teeth.

Do not swallow the oil – It’s really hard to hold and swish around a tablespoon of oil in your mouth for 10-20 minutes without swallowing. The tablespoon doubles in size as time passes, supposedly from the toxins it’s pulling and also the saliva that collects in your mouth. There were times I just had to swallow and suggest pushing all of the oil to the front of your teeth so you can swallow lightly without taking in too much of the oil and toxins.

Practice oil pulling while occupied – Let’s be real. When you are holding something in your mouth for 10 minutes, those can be the longest 10 minutes of your life. I suggest practicing oil pulling when you are occupied with something. My favorite time to do it is in the shower. From the time I jumped in, bathed and got out and dressed, it was right at or just past 10 minutes. You could also do it while folding laundry, loading the dishwasher, anything that keeps your mind occupied on something else.

Spit the oil in the trash – Whatever you do, always spit the oil out in the trash. Don’t spit it down the sink, especially if you’re using coconut oil because it will harden as soon as it cools off. I’m sure the last thing you want is a clogged drain to deal with.

And not really a tip or suggestion, but hope that a sneeze or yawn doesn’t come along because if you can’t stop it, you’re going to end up with oil everywhere. Trust me. I know from experience.

Have you tried oil pulling? I’d love to hear about your experience and results!

5 Reasons SnackPals Are a Snack Time Essential + Giveaway

5 Reasons SnackPals Are a Snack Time Essential #WowGear #SnackPals #snacktime #portioncontrol

~Thank you to WOW Gear for providing SnackPals for review and helping me take control of snack time. As always, my opinions are still 100% my own.~

I want to talk about snack time today. Do you like snack time? I love snack time, mostly because it gives me a few minutes of quiet in the mid-afternoon while the kids (and I) munch on something. And of course they love it because their little bellies are satisfied between meals.

But the reality is, sometimes snack time gets a little messy. If I portion too much, my daughter ends up spilling whatever she doesn’t eat. She starts playing with her food and the next thing I know her bowl is upside down and her crunchy snacks scattered across the floor. And it won’t be long before someone steps on and crunches them, creating even more of a mess.

On the flip side, if I don’t portion enough for my son, he’ll go grab the bag or box of whatever I gave him to snack on and will sit and eat way too much. Then when dinner time rolls around he’s not hungry, but wants to raid the fridge right before bed. I don’t think so!

Hmm. Now that I’m talking about it, I’m starting to rethink how much I like snack time.

5 Reasons SnackPals Are a Snack Time Essential #WowGear #SnackPals #snacktime #portioncontrol

Just as my snack time woes were getting the best of me, I got the opportunity to try the new SnackPals from WOW Gear. They have completely changed the dynamic of snack time in my home, from solving my portioning issues to keeping snack time mostly tidy.

Take a look at these five reasons why SnackPals are a snack time essential in my home and then enter to win some for your kids too!

1. Portion Control

I already mentioned the issues I have with snack time portion control between both kids. SnackPals have a creative design that takes care of this problem so there’s no over eating.

I simply fill the SnackPals container with my kids favorite snack and for them to access the snack, they have to flip the SnackPals upside down and give it two shakes. When they turn it back over and open the lid, they “magically” have a nicely portioned amount of snack in the cup.

The way it works is when in an upright position, there’s a flow gate/interior flap that stays in a closed position. No snacks can get in and no snacks can get out. But when flipped upside down, the flow gate opens so snacks can slip through to the top cup. Shaking the SnackPals twice allows just a mouthful of snacks to become accessible in the cup.

Now my son gets only what I give him and he has to take it slow when eating because SnackPals will only allow him so much at a time.

2. Fewer Spills

The design of SnackPals also creates snack times that are much less messy. Since in a closed container and not having open access to every crunchy piece, if my daughter happens to drop it or it falls off the table, I’m left with possibly a few snacks on the floor that may fall out of the top cup, but certainly not a whole bowl of snacks scattered everywhere.

And just imagine the mess it prevents while snacking in the car. No more cleaning the car and finding two month old cereal laying around.

3. Clean Snacks

Using SnackPals also helps keep the snacks clean. My daughter is guilty of pouring her drink into her food and playing with it. But she’s not able to do this when using her SnackPals. Her food stays clean and doesn’t end up in the trash.

Or if she’s snacking at her brother’s soccer practice and drops her SnackPals on the ground, only a few snacks fall out and with a couple of shakes she can continue to eat those that are clean and enclosed in the bottom. Otherwise, she’d try to pick up what spilled and continue eating them. I understand a little dirt never hurt anyone, but I have to draw the line after a certain point.

Clean Snacks = Less Waste

4. Take Anywhere

SnackPals can go ANYWHERE! Use them at home, in the car, on plane rides, while camping, on vacation, to grandma’s house, to school, to daycare, the park, the beach, the mall – anywhere. Who doesn’t love easy, on-the-go snacking?

5. Fun Snacking

SnackPals are tons of fun for kids. Both of my kids love to turn them upside down and give them a few shakes. It’s like they’re performing magic. Start with no snacks and a few shakes later – voila! – the snacks magically appear.

Sometimes they get a little crazy and shake their SnackPals like maracas, but it’s all in the name of fun snacking.
