The weather is getting warmer and spring gardens are starting to pop up everywhere. What this means for my family is springtime salads! I love chopping up fresh lettuce and veggies, and putting together the perfect salad. From tomatoes, to cucumbers, onions, carrots, hard boiled eggs, bacon pieces, shredded cheese and avocado, a leafy salad is one of my favorites!

Unfortunately, I’ve had my fair share of salads that didn’t quite taste right, but when I experience that off beat taste I know exactly what the problem is. The lettuce wasn’t rinsed before the salad was put together. Personally, I like to chop up a fresh head of lettuce for my salads, but did you know that even if you purchase pre-chopped lettuce or salad mixes that you should still rinse it? You really should!

This brings me to the newest addition to our arsenal of kitchen products, the Quick Dry Salad Spinner from Cave Tools. Until now, I have always rinsed lettuce either before chopping it up or by simply placing it in a colander after it’s chopped and rinsing in the sink, while the water drains through the colander holes.

The problem with this is that many times the salad ends up a bit watery and it’s simply because a lot of the water gets trapped between the lettuce pieces. The Quick Dry Salad Spinner helps to eliminate that watery effect in the simplest way. In fact, it’s so simple that lettuce rinsing has become one of my 5 year old son’s kitchen duties.

Notable Features:

  • Works on fruits, veggies, berries, peppers, pasta, leafy greens and more.
  • Vented lid for easy rinsing.
  • Holds more than 3 quarts of veggies.
  • Dishwasher safe.
  • Lifetime satisfaction guarantee.

While the salad spinner allows you to spin and rinse the lettuce directly from the bowl and pour the excess water out the vented lid, I wanted to show you just how much of a difference the salad spinner makes versus my usual way of rinsing in a colander.

So I had my son use the spinner’s colander to rinse the salad in the sink as I usually would and then give it a few good shakes to get rid of any excess water. At this point I would normally start putting my salad together. Instead we put the Quick Dry Salad Spinner to work.

After a few goods spins, this is the amount of excess water the Quick Dry Salad Spinner was able to extract. This would have normally ended up in my salad! And that’s not even all of it. My son gave the lettuce a second go round in the salad spinner and extracted even more excess water.

  1. I have a salad “spinner” but I pump a handle to spin it! I love making a salad with tons of fresh veggies with some kind of marinated meat as well as my homemade dressing.

  2. This looks so easy to do, even your son can do it. I won’t be a total loser in the kitchen trying to make a better salad for my husband.
